The Department of Defense cautioned Venezuela after saying two of its military aircraft flew near a Navy vessel, the USS Jason Dunham, on Thursday.
The military struck a Venezuelan drug boat earlier this week in the Caribbean and positioned vessels near the South American nation.
In response to the flyby, made by two armed Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets, the Trump administration accused Venezuela of being run by the cartels.
"Today, two Maduro regime military aircraft flew near a U.S. Navy vessel in international waters," a Department of Defense release said.
"This highly provacative move was designed to interfere with our counter narco-terror operations. The cartel running Venezuela is strongly advised not to pursue any further effort to obstruct, deter or interfere with counter-narcotics and counter-terror operations carried out by the U.S. military," it concluded.

You are not dealing with “Papa Biden” anymore Nickeless. Be careful! You might want to move to Ireland with Rosie. That’s where all the U.S. resident asylum seekers are going. Have fun!
I hazard a prediction that the crew on one of those ships will be painting a couple of scores on their superstructure in the coming days/weeks.
I believe they’re angry/stupid enough to do it again, i.e., the target was valid.
Good thing we let our MIC sell weapons to s**tholes on a worldwide basis... so they can be used by evil-doers, often against US.
Much of my unit's mission in Iraq was running thermites through US made APCs and other vehicles/equipment that WE sold them.
Shoot them down.

So sternly saying “Don’t” isn’t enough to effect our foreign policy goals?
> Good thing we let our MIC sell weapons to s**tholes on a worldwide basis... <
I was thinking of the exact same thing. When was the last time Venezuela had a government that wasn’t corrupt and run by drug cartels?
If those F-16s were sold to Venezuela after that time, somebody has some explaining to do.
Oh, hell. I just looked it up. My hero Ronald Reagan sold those F16s to Venezuela back in 1982.
Of course the world was a very different place back then. And we were still fighting the Cold War. We wanted to influence countries in South America.
So I’ll give the Gipper a pass here.
I am really angry that both these planes are not oil spots in the Caribbean.
They were armed and close at hand.
Splash those bastards!
1982. Ronald Reagan approved the sale of 24 F-16s.
Luis Antonio Herrera Campins was the president of Venezuela from 1979 to 1984. He was elected to one five-year term in 1978. He was a member of COPEI, a Christian Democratic party.
This isn’t just about drugs we’re going for regime change here. We need to free up that oil and get it on the market. Maduro is just a criminal anyways so screw him.
“somebody has some explaining to do”
That would be Ronald Reagan in 1981.
The USS Jason Dunham is prepared for hostile actions, if necessary

Pentagon warns Venezuela
Examples must be made
Perhaps MSLSDNBC mis-quoted the DOD statement-— or perhaps not. Either way a non-existent word was used in the quote:
“This highly provacative move was designed to..........etc”
The word comes from the word “provoke” thus should be “provocative” with an o not an a. Gonna blame MSNBC cause they are idiots. Not the DOD, they have to get their verbage correct to deal with morons like Maduro sending 43 year old F-16s Reagan allow the pre-Chavez Venezuelan government to buy from the US. Do wonder though how— now, at this time- Venezuela has access to aircraft parts for the F-16 A or B variant.
We painted them and id’d them— next time these idiots do this they should be fried mid-air. Splash pieces. Hopefully we lit them up.
The pilots must love this assignment.
Those 16s have to be 25+ years old. I really dont believe Barky would have sold them. And exactly why would Venezuela need F16s.?
What don’t I understand, it’s a drug war, shoot the drug runners down.
