Very nice harvest, Spunky!
I’ve gotten a ton of zucchini, basil, cherries, peppers, and the tomatoes are nearly ready.
What do you do with your Basil? I grow it but never do anything with it because I don’t really know what to do. I just love to go by and pull a few leafs to smell them. They keep blooming so fast I can’t keep the blooms pulled off.
I just rinse them off and put them into a freezer bag. Once frozen I can pull them out and crunch them up easily and use the whole year. I love chicken in basil and garlic....it’s like pesto and cheaper.
Another good, quick dish is pasta with diced fresh tomato, chopped basil, olive oil and parmasaen cheese. It’s delicious.

“I just rinse them off and put them into a freezer bag.”
Thanks! I will give that a try.
Keep in mind that I love basil. If you love basil, or even like it, having a bag of frozen leaves all year round is great.

I don’t like the big thawed out leaves either. That’s why I freeze it whole. It’s much easier to crunch into small pieces when frozen.

I don’t have any luck with seeds so I always get starts. I did get seeds for radishes and those being the easiest things to grow, I still didn’t have any luck with them.
Today is lunch out with my youngest daughter so I need to start getting ready.
Thank you, Judy.
In spite of all the crap I’m going through, the worst possible thing that could happen dead. Cooper was diagnosed with tracheal collapse. He was hacking and coughing and couldn’t catch his breath yesterday so I took him to the emergency vet. That’s what she said. I’m gonna get a second opinion from my regular vet plus Go to a specialist in Asheville. I need to get a referral. I’m just praying she was wrong but it is something Yorkies get. I’d rather I get all the diseases and problems possible than him. He’s such a sweet baby.
Oh, I forget about that, that you need it hot. Yeah 83° water isn’t very comfortable if you’re looking for something warm and soothing.
Nice looking veggies spunky! I’m impressed because I know it gets super hot there. It’s been hot for here, 90 every day, so I’m ending up having to water a lot. I’ll try to get some pictures of my gardens and post them.
so sorry you’ve been sick Rusty!
It seems like this year I just got old all at once. Not liking it!
Heard from MsB, that you were thinking of relocating to Tennessee, what part? But I’m betting your weather right now is lovely, much better than what we have.
Oh no, CB. I’m sorry to hear little Cooper is suffering. Is this something that can be remedied? What do you have to do for the poor little guy? I hope it’s fixable. You just can’t catch a break, can you.
Unfortunately, not. There is a surgery, but it is rarely successful and it’s too much to put a 14-year-old dog through. He will eventually not be able to breathe and I’ll have to put him down. But there are medications they can give in the meantime to make it easier for him to breathe. It just depends how fast the collapse happens. I’m still hoping it’s a misdiagnosis and if I go to Asheville, they’ll find something else.
How are things in Canada? Probably cooler than here! LOL for someone that came from weather over 100°, sometimes over 110, I sure complain about 90.
Yes tracheal collapse is common in Yorkies and that is why vets are quick to give that diagnosis.
My Yorkie developed that awful croopy sounding cough everytime she walked and my dog groomer told me it sounded like a heart cough. Sure enough she ended up having a heart attack.
Definitely get another diagnosis. Sad thing is my dog was and your dog is at the age where anything can happen and I know how you feel. :-(
