Trump sidelines Netanyahu in Middle East policy as relations deteriorate
Israel Hayom ^ | 05-08-2025 | Ariel Kahana

Trump is furious about what he views as an attempt by Netanyahu and his team to pressure National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who has since been dismissed from his position, toward military action in Iran. Netanyahu claimed in response to the publication of this matter in The Washington Post that he spoke with Waltz only once. However, Trump remained unconvinced.

The president's anger likely explains Israel's exclusion from both the announcement regarding the ceasefire with the Houthis and Israel's inclusion in the agreement. It's worth noting that even after Trump announced the agreement with the Houthis, Israeli representatives handling relations with the US were unable to obtain information from White House officials about developments for a full 24 hours. Beyond Israel's exclusion, Trump is not currently scheduled to visit Israel during his regional trip next week.

The disconnect between Trump and Netanyahu appears to be the backdrop for statements by the prime minister and Defense Minister Israel Katz over the past day, suggesting they are preparing for a scenario where Israel stands alone. When asked by his spokesman, "Can Israel fight alone against the Houthi threat?" Netanyahu responded that "the rule I have established is that Israel will defend itself by its own forces." On Thursday morning, Defense Minister Katz stated that "Israel must be able to defend itself by its own forces against any threat and any enemy. This was true facing many challenges in the past, and will also be true in the future."

Israel needs to be defended but…not a fan of Netanyahu. He’s always found ways to passive aggressively and/or outright undermine Trump and remains close friends with Mitt Romney and the like from his college days in Boston. 😖Also was the first world leader to enthusiastically congratulate Biden in 2020 the moment the media ‘called’ the election. 🙄

Trump needs to stay with Israel and not help Iran.

“Israel needs to be defended but…not a fan of Netanyahu.”

I like Netanyahu but not to the point of going to war against Iran for him. Also, I’m not as sure as some people that it will be a walk in the park. Iran is a huge country and our only forward bases against them would be our carriers.

Best news of the week.

Launching military strikes against Houthi mutants to protect foreign shipping doesn't do a damn thing to make America great again.

Iran has been at war with the United States since November 4, 1979. The United States did not elect a leader who recognizes that fact until now.

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Hossein Salami warned on Thursday that Iran would retaliate against Israel and the US should the two countries strike Iran.

"I’m issuing a serious warning: if you make one wrong move, we will open up the gates of hell on you," said Salami, as quoted by Iran International.

"Sit down and stay in your place ... we have made extensive preparations. These are serious warnings to Zionist officials, to US officials. The criminal Prime Minister of the Zionist regime talks a lot these days, threatens Iran," he added.

"If you make a mistake, we’ll act on you in a way that you forget the True Promise 1 and 2," he said, in reference to Iran’s attacks on Israel last year.

"Don't count on THAAD. Every time you fire a projectile, we will fire more than you," Salami threatened.

The threats come amid renewed tensions over Iran’s nuclear program. While the US and Iran held three rounds of talks recently, a planned fourth round of negotiations was postponed without a new date announced.

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said that Iran has a choice when it comes to its nuclear program: Blow up its nuclear facilities peacefully or blow them up viciously.

In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump was asked whether the US has given Iran a choice between turning over its nuclear centrifuges and uranium or “get bombed” and replied, “It’s that simple.”

“I would much prefer a strong, verified deal where we actually blow them up… or just de-nuke them,” he said, in an apparent reference to Iran’s nuclear centrifuges.

“There are only two alternatives there, blow them up nicely or blow them up viciously,” Trump stated.

Mike Pence wants regime change in Iran I’ve seen him in the room in the last year with the old guard supporters of the Shah.

Netanyahu has never been able to finish what he started. Trump gave him carte blanche for a quick smashing of Hamas and Bibi still drags it out. Trump’s patience at an end.

Bibi is the best a secular government has to offer, but a secular government in the Promised Land is a dead end.

Alberta’s Child has a point, and it’s because of the use of the phrase “foreign shipping”.

It is absolutely in America’s best interests to keep the shipping lanes open. There should be no question about that.

But here’s the thing. Vital oil heading for China and Japan traverses the Strait of Hormuz. Has either China or Japan issued stern warnings to Iran? Has either country struck at the Houthi rebels?

No. It’s the same old story. Let the United States do all the heavy lifting.

Its ALL BS..I dont buy for one second that Trump and BiBi are having issues..do I blame Trump for being pissed if it turns out that BiBi and Waltz were talking about bombing Iran without Trump being involved in the conversation, HELL YEAH I’d be pissed..but I think the media is trying to create a problem when none exists
