US withdraws from formal Ukraine peace negotiations
The Telegraph via Yahoo ^ | May 2nd, 2025 | Iona Cleave

The United States will no longer mediate peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia after Vladimir Putin refused to sign up to a ceasefire.

The State Department said it is changing “the methodology of how we contribute” to the talks and will no longer “fly around the world at the drop of a hat” for meetings.

“We will continue to help, but we will no longer fly around the world as mediators in meetings,” said Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson.

She added that Kyiv and Moscow must now present “concrete” proposals for ending the war and should meet directly to resolve the conflict.

Washington withdrawing from peace talks came soon after the US signed a minerals deal with Ukraine on more favourable terms for Kyiv, while Donald Trump green-lit his administration’s first round of weapons deliveries to the war-torn country.

Go vote for your friend Vivek in 2028 then.

Gratuitous and unnecessary remark.

I'd give Trump an A+, except for some style issues, which I've learned to live with as it pertains to Trump's chaotic, mercurial style.

Our money and weapons should stay here too. I don’t care if Russia and Ukraine want to kill each other. They can both pay their own way.

Non existent minerals which may or may not be there someday is not an exchange for money and weapons.

If Russia takes all of Ukraine. We aren’t getting squat.

Russia and Ukraine don’t really want to negotiate.
Let them kill each other if that’s what they want.
There’s no reason to spend time trying to broker peace or a ceasefire when both sides refuse.

PRAVDA:
‼️‍The enemy is attacking Crimea: the bridge is blocked, explosions near Kerch.

▪️There is a missile threat in Crimea and Sevastopol.

▪️Traffic on the Crimean Bridge is temporarily blocked.

▪️Explosions are thundering in the area of Kerch, the Russian army is destroying enemy targets.

▪️Earlier it was reported that the enemy has accumulated unmanned boats and, together with a drone raid and missile launch, is planning a combined attack from the sea and air.

Does this sound like either side wants to negotiate?

I never mentioned anything about taking sides. Where do you come up with some of this?

I said, I don’t care if both sides want to keep killing each other as long as we are not supplying or paying for either side.

The $50M document seems to be authorization by State to US defense companies to sell various defense items to Ukraine. It is not the US sending arms or money, as best can be understood in the document. The money for the buy is not mentioned. It could be EU money. It can be from anywhere and Lockheed et al are authorized to take that money in return for shipping . . . not so much arms but apparently services.

I read it too and I wish President Trump or someone in the administration would clarify it.

I agree. As I’ve said many times, let the Europeans handle this.

President Trump tried to negotiate peace, but neither of those counties want it.

If the Slavs want to battle to the end, let’s let them. But no more of our treasure should go towards this mess.

That is my take exactly. I know Trump has tried but he should make it known we are walking away totally.

That would end it. It was WEF and Biden’s war anyway.

We just found out that the US under Biden was paying the Taliban. I always figured after that awful exit where people were left behind that Biden was paying those vermin not to kill people left there as it would make the Biden admin look worse than they already did look.

What is he getting? Maybe, maybe in a few years the US will start receiving the minerals….they aren’t producing squat with Russia targeting all their manufacturing….and dealing with such a corrupted nation I doubt we will see but a small percentage of the mineral mining proceeds.

I think Putin will regret doing the bidding of China and thwarting any peace deal. The weird thing will be watching the democrats start rooting for Russia.

Rubio: “ This is not our war.”

I agree completely.

Europeans do not want to live peacefully with their neighbors. They've been waging petty little wars with each other for hundreds of years, even into the 20th and 21st centuries.

The rely on US taxpayer dollars to fund their squabbles, which up until now, US politicians have been only happy to indulge. The politicians and their benefactors in the MI complex have gotten rich in so doing.

If the Euroweenies want to fight, I say, let them have at it.

Just don't expect the American taxpayer to continue to fund it.

We broke away from the UK because we got tired of putting up with this kind of BS.

He could have ended this and all he cared about was some goofy minerals deal. I guess those lives he talked about saving weren’t so much after all.

How is a third party going to end a war in which the two parties fighting do not want to end it?

If Russia and Ukraine don't care about the lives lost in a war between themselves, why should we?

Europeans have proven time, and time again, they do not want to live peacefully with each other. They've been waging petty little wars for hundreds of years, even into the 20th and 21st centuries.

They rely on US taxpayer dollars to fund their squabbles, which up until now, US politicians have been only happy to indulge. The politicians and their benefactors in the MI complex have gotten rich in so doing.

If the Euroweenies want to fight, I say, let them have at it.

Just don't expect the American taxpayer to continue to fund it.

We broke away from the UK precisely because we got tired of putting up with this kind of BS.

Backstory: Ukraine’s fairy godfather, Joe Biden’s 2024 arms
pkg, some $425M US tax dollars, handed-over to Ukraine:
<><> air defense capabilities,
<><>air-to-ground weapons,
<><>munitions for rocket systems
<><>artillery,
<><>armored vehicles,
<><>and anti-tank weapons.

The same Biden that tramples on Americans’ 2A rights,
grabbing guns families need to protect themselves,
cavalierly blankets Ukrainian shysters with US weapons.

State Department 2025: “To date, we have provided $65.9 billion
in military assistance” to Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion.

Know when to walk away from the table.” The Art of the Deal.

Zelensky apparently played that perfectly in having the first mineral deal blow up in the Oval Office, and now getting a better one.

Both sides see advantage in continued fighting. Both sides wear big boy pants. Up to them.

Agreements are for tired armies only.
