President Donald Trump repeatedly needled CNN and its primetime anchor Kaitlan Collins on Monday during an exchange in the Oval Office about deported El Salvadoran national Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
President Trump took several shots at CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins as she peppered him with questions in the Oval Office Monday over the wrongful deportation of an El Salvadoran national who the US Supreme Court ruled should be returned to the United States for now.
Trump repeatedly needled Collins, who is also the network’s White House correspondent, including calling her a “low-rated anchor” and slamming CNN’s credibility as he took questions alongside El Salvador President Nayib Bukele.
Collins wanted answers about the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was removed to the Center for Terrorism Confinement (CECOT), the Central American country’s hellhole mega-prison, last month under the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act.
The Trump administration has claimed Abrego Garcia was a member of the violent MS-13 gang, but the US Supreme Court directed the White House to “facilitate” his release from the prison on April 10.

Higgins/The White House When Collins first prodded Trump about the issue, he pointed to CNN’s less-than-stellar ratings before passing the baton to Attorney General Pam Bondi to defend the deportation and subsequent actions.
Then Trump tapped homeland security adviser Stephen Miller to speak up while taking another shot at Collins’ employer.
“Can you just also respond to that question because you know it’s asked by CNN and they always ask it with a slant because...

There, I fixed it!
It is clear that deportation was in order for him and as a citizen of El Salvador that should be the destination. What I can’t seem to find in our ‘media’ is if he is in prison based on our due process and expense or if he is in prison based on El Salvador’s due process and expense.
He claimed that a rival gang would kill him if he returned.
As I heard it told, the gang he claimed would kill him wasn’t even in El Salvador.
I must reluctantly defend the New York Post. They are rather conservative in their reporting. And they will run stories that the mainstream media would prefer to bury.
Now here’s their weakness. The Post just can’t help using sensational headlines. And so we see dramatic words like “insults”, etc.
In that way, the NY Post is very much like the UK papers.
Nope. His own lawyers admit he's Salvadoran national who entered the country illegally in 2011.
His case was heard in immigration court and he was ordered removed. He appealed and the removal order was upheld.
The only special circumstance was that the immigration judge granted him a withholding of removal, which only means that, while he could be deported, he just couldn't be deported back to El Salvador.
Keep in mind that after he lost his immigration case, he married his current wife in an attempt to circumvent immigration laws, which is illegal.
After he was ordered removed, he again tried to circumvent immigration laws by trying to claim asylum even though asylum must be requested at a port of entry before entering the country, not after living here illegally for over 10 years.
What’s to barf about? Trump did a masterful job of handling her, and he didn’t “insult” her, he merely asked why she couldn’t ask straightforward questions instead of the warped “gotchas” she teed up.
She should’ve admonished Bukele for suggesting that he would not participate in smuggling a terrorist back into the US. /s
It’s a bit more gray than you depict. Garcia was not supposed to be deported to El Salvador because he would be persecuted by a rival gang, which now (if the reports I have read are correct) is defunct.
The secondary destination would be the last country of residence before entering the US - which in this case is also El Salvidore.
The mistake was supposedly deporting him to his home country, which he claimed would be a destination for persecution. It’s a nice round conundrum - can’t deport someone to a new country, but can’t deport them home because of a now extinct rival gang.
Just another media lie, IMHO.
They look alike. I think they are the same person, or maybe brother and sister.
"Caitlin" Collins is likely a tranny. There is some weird statistical anomaly that transvesties often choose the name "Caitlin".
“Trump repeatedly insults CNN’s Kaitlan Collins in Oval Office over deportation of El Salvadoran national: ‘Why can’t you just say that?’”
that sounds to me like one of those humorous “man bites dog” stories ...
Presenting such seditious propaganda should be prosecuted as a crime. It is not "free speech" it is presenting lies that cause harm as "news".
When in a position of trust such as journalism, there should be standards of conduct
evidently there are no legal standards for journalism in the modern day, lying and obfuscation has become the new standard for "news" reporting, started long ago , they even did it in the 20's and 30's but were more discreet, and it just gets worse If it's not weather or sports it is lies and deception
The entire CNN reporters hate Trump and any Republicans. CNN’s ratings show that but they are stuck on stupid.
It was ordered by a judge. What part of judges have no say do you not understand? They can’t tell the President he can’t deport terrorists under any circumstance.
And the gang he said would kill him doesn’t exist in El Salvador.
Even his own lawyers admit in court filings that he is a citizen of El Salvador and had been here illegally since 2011. The only mistake was deporting him to El Salvador, not that he couldn't be deported at all.
See: Case 8:25-cv-00951-AAQ Document 1 Filed 03/24/25 Page 1 of 21 (PDF)
"In 2019, Plaintiff Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia won an order from an immigration judge granting him a form of relief called withholding of removal, which prohibits Defendants from removing him to El Salvador. Should Defendants wish to remove Plaintiff Abrego Garcia to El Salvador, the law sets forth specific procedures by which they can reopen the case and seek to set aside the grant of withholding of removal. Should Defendants wish to remove Plaintiff Abrego Garcia to any other country, they would have no legal impediment in doing so."
Start off with a lie, then you shouldn't even be called upon, because the S.C. did not say that at all. He said he should facilitate his return.
[dowcaet wrote:] What is Abrego Kilmar Garcia’s actual immigration status? I know he came here illegally, but I’ve read that he was given a special status akin to asylum because of his claim of threats to his life in El Salvador.Nope. <>What’s to barf about?<>
From the column:
1. the wrongful deportation of an El Salvadoran national
2. the US Supreme Court ruled he should be returned to the United States for now.
3. Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man
4. The Trump administration has claimed Abrego Garcia was a member of the violent MS-13 gang
1-3 are falsehoods.
As for 4, a federal judge ruled he was a member of MS-13.
Did you read the article you posted?
I was simply pointing out the supposed basis of the illogical ruling. We agree that judges have no place in this drama, however there is more gray than the black and white statement you made.
There was an administrative error, according to the administration. I’m not convinced it really was an error, but they said it was. His deportation order apparently said he shouldn’t be deported to El Salvador due to probable persecution by the rival gang - which did exist there at one time, but is apparently defunct.
It’s funny you say I don’t understand. I was highlighting the circular legal argument against his deportation to El Salvador, despite it being his primary amd secondary destination under US deportation laws.
I haven’t run into you before, I think. Please think a little on what I post before charging me with ignorance in the future, please.
Fair enough.
