n a new order, Judge James Boasberg, the chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Washington, said the Department of Justice (DOJ) was late with its filing today and ordered the agency to provide more information about flights that took deportees to El Salvador, or make a formal "state secrets" claim.
President Donald Trump's DOJ now has until Friday morning to submit a sworn declaration from someone involved in those talks.
Boasberg ruled on Thursday, "I understand that Cabinet Secretaries are currently actively considering whether to invoke the state secrets privilege over the other facts requested by the Court's order. Doing so is a serious matter that requires careful consideration of national security and foreign relations, and it cannot properly be undertaken in just 24 hours."
