Cry me a river.
Take money from the government? Then the government effectively owns you.
“Colleges Are in Trouble and Suddenly Realizing They Have Few Allies”
couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch ...
The way I see it, these colleges could “change their policies” — but virtually 100% of their teaching staff are hardcore communists. They only know how to think one way. They only know how to teach one way. You cannot “flip a switch” and stop the Marxist indoctrination. It’s all they know.
The problem all along was parents who pushed their kids to become educated. Was it the Depression? How about showing off to other parents?
Think Plastics! Benjamin Braddock.
This is written as if the two are mutually exclusive.I am one man, but I am also both: the MAGA voter, and the thoughtful, well-educated person. When colleges come to realize this confluence and begin to accede to it, they will become what they have been meant to be for the last 900 years.
Since I went to college tuition at my alma mater has gone from about $1100 a semester to $5600. Inflation only accounts for about $1100. The additional $3400 is just plain greed.
So it'll be a good thing if some Universities end up closing.
How about 3 year degrees? Get rid of the stupid ‘requirements’. A one year certificate where one can be forced to be intellectual for just one year. Sounds silly but after 12 years of K-12 indoctrination a year of critical thinking combined with some common sense added in would set up one for more of an eyes-wide-open future. The military did it for me. It’s the transition to adulthood issues for 18 year olds. There’s gotta be a better(cheaper) way. Al Gore came up with Americorp-stupid. Hope it’s on the chopping block. The Peace Corps turned people into lifelong democrats. Cut them off too.
It isn’t just MAGA voters they’ve lost. It’s also a lot of thoughtful, well-educated people who feel sick at seeing how universities have so often lost their way, how pedagogy has been replaced by ideology, how students have become zealots.

The author is a leftist asshole
“This is written as if the two are mutually exclusive.”
exactly ... author repeating the shibboleth that MAGA voters are high-school dropout troglodyte ditch-diggers ... nothing could be further from the truth ... myself, my wife, and almost all of my neighbors, family, and friends from junior high school, high school, and college are all highly educated and highly accomplished people who worked in engineering, banking, finance, medicine, and construction supervisors ... and all of us are MAGA! ...
and lets not forget where the world would be without our REAL heroes: the folks that build and maintain and get up in the middle of the night in blizzards to make emergency repairs of downed power lines, destroyed communication lines, and punctured water and natural gas lines so that the rest of us can comfortably hunker down in our nice warm, cozy homes with running water, hot water, cable TV, wireless phones, and Internet while the wild freezing winds blow outside ...
Get a degree in engineering and they mandate you take a course in flower arrangements.
After Covid and Glob(s)al warming, people realize that colleges are not protecting intellectual integrity, they are on on the scam.
Not enough allies, is it? Translation: “where did all the heavy donors go?”
“This is written as if the two are mutually exclusive.I am one man, but I am also both: the MAGA voter, and the thoughtful, well-educated person.”
In my experience, one of the most pervasive lies the left believes is that conservatives are uneducated. They think they have both the moral high ground, and the educational and intellectual high ground.
It is one of the reasons they are so hard to talk to.
For the most part colleges are mainly creating leftists who are sociopaths. Pathetic.
Not greed. Administrators. and Administration. that’s where the big growth has come in universities
This does not seem to be the case with the current texts.
I’ve been saying for years that to save America you had to burn down Harvard. I may have been a bit pessimistic.
