Tesla sales are reportedly falling globally. How bad it is and where.
Mashable ^ | March 6, 2025 | Matt Binder

...According to a new report on Wednesday, sales in Europe continue to decline. For example, Tesla has seen a sales decline of 76 percent in Germany. In February 2025, Tesla only delivered 1,429 new vehicles in Germany, compared to more than 6,000 in February 2024. This data is especially concerning for Tesla, as Germany is Europe's largest EV market. Musk recently backed Germany's far-right AfD party in the country's recent elections.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Tesla vehicle registrations across the EU, including the UK, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, fell by 45 percent from January 2024 to January 2025. It's not just Europe, either.

Tesla sales in Australia fell by nearly 72 percent in February. The company only sold 1,592 vehicles last month compared to the 5,665 it sold the previous year.

It appears that Tesla sales are slumping in the U.S., too. According to the California New Car Dealers Association, Tesla registered fewer cars in the state in all four quarters of 2024. California is the largest EV market in the U.S. Tesla sales fell by 8 percent in the fourth quarter and 12 percent for the whole year.

some of Tesla's sales figures in other markets looked grim — the kind of year-over-year drops that should worry the CEO.

Germany: -76% Norway, Denmark, and Sweden: -42% to -48% France: -26% Teslas manufactured in China: -49%

Tesla shares tumbled 5.6% in trading Thursday and are now down 45% from their December peak, giving up 96% of that post-election bump

😂
Reminds me of the Twitter drama when Musk purchased it.
My $$ is on Musk.
I’ll wait a while.
Then buy.

Government accountability is now a bad thing according to the left. Too many people in this world are defending the ones trying to destroy us all.

I would be curious to know how Tesla compares to the EV market in general.

But Tesla hasn’t really updated the designs of their vehicles in sometime. Same look for as long as I can remember.

In Germany, the UK and China it seems that the EV market is still expanding. But no breakdown on other brands yet available for 2025

And I think Musk said....nothing new will be built for the conventual market.

Tesla is not just cars...he's getting heavily into Robotics.

The number of EV sales in California were about the same for 2023 and 2024. Tesla just lost some marketshare. In 2023 they sold ~226K vehicles and ~201K last year. There were ~378K BEV vehicles sold in California last year.

My .02:

A. If Musk didn’t have such a massive ego, he’d have stepped down as Tesla CEO many months ago and this wouldn’t be happening.

B. The other day was the first time I seriously looked at a Tesla to an eye of how buying one would benefit me (as a 2nd vehicle).

I like that. It is ridiculous they totally change the look from year to year to make getting parts a real chore. Not to mention they all look generally alike across manufactures for model types.

A. If Musk didn’t have such a massive ego, he wouldn’t be the richest man in the world.

Maybe you should send an email to Musk. Outlining exactly how you would do things better. Say maybe 5 things you do better at your company that make it successful.

What exactly do YOU do that makes you such a Super Genius?

The CEO is a rare character that, unlike the rest of us, who froze and did nothing when Trump was put through hell, stepped up to fight and is taking a HUGE personal hit.

His life is threatened, his finances getting slammed (i know he’s rich, but no one likes to lose a whole lot of what they have).

He did this for us...while we watched Trump and the J6ers get persecuted from home on our TVs, cities burn, statues get torn down...

Why you even mention “drops that should worry the CEO” when you KNOW what is causing it makes no sense.

Would you like him to stop helping us?

I’m not sure what you’re driving at...if you know what is causing it..what would you have him do?

He’s tough. And he loves America, it would seem, more than his safety or his money.

Elon is a selfless Patriot who sacrifices time, money, and safety in an attempt to return America to greatness.
He really loves this country more than any Democrat.

Buying one won’t benefit you.

Wait and watch. According to reports I’m seeing, Toyota and others will come out with solid state batteries within the next 2 to 3 years.

Solid state batteries will render lithium powered vehicles obsolete over night. It’s kinda like going from 78 rpm vinyl to digital recording, skipping cassette tape and 8 track a long the way.

If you have to have electric, buy used from Hertz or Avis; they’re ridiculously cheap and will get even cheaper as the Global recession takes hold.

Same reactions here, is this a Tesla trend and/or a EV trend. And that the product might be getting stale for some consumers.

I’m fascinated by EV retrofits into older cars. Not every used car would be a good candidate, but some would be perfect. Some hobbyist weekend warrior racers (small track, dirt, autocross) unconcerned about range might really dig the fast acceleration. I see at autocross today, Teslas that just just seem to pull away remarkably coming out of a turn.

Environmentalism aside, has it ever made sense to buy an electric car?

An industry dependent on slave children mining critical metals for batteries isn't going to continue for long - not enough slaves, not enough mines, and not enough electrical capacity in the grid to keep the vehicle charged.

At the same time, the bloom is off the rose and even the most far left virtue whiner doesn't care to keep up the pretense that they're "saving the planet" by driving a battery-powered car.
