When President Donald Trump made his speech to a joint session of Congress last night, a number of female Democratic members of Congress wore pink to protest the Trump administration’s policies they say negatively impact women and families.
“Pink is a color of power and protest,” New Mexico Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández, who chairs the Democratic Women’s Caucus, told Time prior to the speech. “It’s time to rev up the opposition and come at Trump loud and clear.”
Pink ― a color archetypically associated with femininity ― also calls to mind the “pink pussy hat” era: After Trump was elected the first time, those pointy-eared knit hats became the unofficial uniform of thousands of protesters during the 2017 Women’s March on Washington. (The hats became a symbol of female solidarity throughout the world, but they were also plenty mocked, too; some felt that there’d never been a better symbol of performative white feminism.).....
Interestingly, the pink did get people talking, or at least searching for answers on why the women wore the shade. According to Google Trends, “why are the congress women wearing pink” was the top trending “why” during the speech, only equaled by “why is Trump doing tariffs” in search traffic.

For the Democrats, “supporting women” just means “killing babies”. None of the other stuff registers with them.
Democrats are such juvenile, simple minded fools.
As well as allowing men to compete against women and in some cases injure them.
And, again, I say WHERE ARE THE MOUTHY FEMINISTS? Where did they go?
Pink clashes with yellow and blue.
To me, the whole Democratic party comes across as childish and unprofessional. I think back to listening to Democratic politicians talk decades ago and they came across as caring and patriotic. Now if one were to say something patriotic it would feel jarring and unreal.
If I were in Congress, I’d identify as a woman just to go crash their womyns caucus.
I think the author let AI write most of her piece.
Plus, I agree that she totally missed why the pink outfits fell flat. No biological woman feels empowered when a man is allowed to use her restroom or locker room.
To me Nancy Pelosi is responsible for the blatant partisanship when she declared there is nothing that the democrats can work together with Trump. So dems are not allowed to put forth issues that Trump might try to get passed as it will prove Pelosi wrong.
This started during the 1st term when Trump tried to work with the dems on prescription drug prices, had office meetings, and then the dems shut it down.
I remember when the wore pink to protest the Iraq War.
Now they wear pink to protest not going to war.
How cute.
When I heard they were going to wear pink, I thought I’d be seeing a group of women wearing similar pink hues. Their stunt wasn’t nearly as noticeable because of the wide range of pinks which didn’t look like a unified protest.
Holding up signs on little paddles didn’t help either. Were the Democrats going to stage a giant ping pong tournament in the House chamber after Trump’s speech?
I hadn’t even thought of that. Are there any ‘trans women’ in Congress?
Sarah McBride.
They needed the vagina hats. That would have dignified the movement. /sarc
It just shows women as followers. It makes them look weak, it makes it easy to identify who is “in the club”.
Typical high school behavior and a demonstration of why these women are not fit to have a legislative position.
While most conservatives as we recognize that the dims with the ‘pink’ stunts and their, little, ping-pong-paddle signs are extremely childish that is OK with the dims if we think that way because they are simply targeting the least of the communist-common-denominators; the dregs of society like BLM, antifa, and other dumb-oxen.
They think that those kinds of animals will love the ‘pink’ and signs deals are wonderful.
