Canada is not optimistic it can get the same kind of one-month reprieve from U.S. tariffs that was granted to Mexico, the New York Times cited a senior Canadian government official as saying on Monday.
President Donald Trump said he had spoken to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday and would speak to him again later in the day. He is vowing to slap 25% tariffs on virtually all Canadian imports starting on Tuesday and a 10% surcharge on oil imports.

Only 10% tariffs on China, and Musk makes Tesla’s in China. Obviously he is calling the shots on this one.
That is what I thought originally. Then I realized that if he went 25% on China, Walmart would be out of business tomorrow. (OK, a slight exaggeration but, they would be in DEEP TROUBLE.)
The US, like Canaduh, has had its industrial base destroyed. That base has moved to China. If Trump put 25% on all Chinese goods, the US (and the world) would be in recession.
Just like only 10% on Canadian O&G, it will hurt the US economy, whereas 25% would do severe damage.
The US cannot QUICKLY replace AB O&G, nor Chinese production, so 25% didn’t make sense.

Starting with the facts that I do not hate Canada or Canadians as a Nation or People.
I also believe Canada should be run by Legacy Canadian Citizens, by a method of government of their choosing.
You are correct that more recent Canadian Government policies are heavily influenced by Soviet Communist (or Marxist) policy goals and operational methods.
Quite different than the loyalty to the British Crown that the Canadian Colonists' descendants chose at the time of the American Revolution.
Generally, over time, Legacy Canadians removed the Tyranny part of the British Empire, and polished the Tradition and Honor parts while partially integrating the French Canadian Culture and Traditions.
Then Canadians decided to have an Industrial Revolution, another Legacy Citizens' Good Idea.
Now comes the "unfortunately".
Canada continued accepting immigrants and became less careful of the quality and origin of those immigrants, and decided to use a British Empire model of Secret Government Agents and Spies that culminated in The Five Eyes agencies cooperation.
Result: Nazi, Communist, Islamic Terrorist, Gangland, Radical Prog Socialist, Double Standard, Degenerate, Canuckistan, where the only thing unrepresented is Legacy Canadian Culture and Tradition.

I did not know that. Thanks for clarifying. You would have thought there would have been tremendous pressure on Biden to repeal. I recall there was a Republican congressman who owned a tool company that made tools in China. I’m sure he was only one of many examples of Congressmen who lose a lot of tariffs.

Unfortunately, Canaduh (as I call it, until it is fixed, if a fix is possible) has been going down the septic tank, almost all of my life, and in free-fall since ‘der Führer und Reichskanzler’ K(louse) Schwab’s favorite sociopath, Justin(e) True-dolt, came to power.
AFAIK, and can remember, it really started with Comrade Rocky Waterhole (translation to French: Pierre Trudeau). Pierre was a communist in Montreal, with ambitions for power. Knowing he could not gain power as a communist in Canada, he joined the Liberal Party and eventually, became Prime Minister. The rot started there, or at least, reached the surface, and was visible, to those who were willing to look. In general, Lieberals destroy the economy, and Conservatives repair it, to some degree, until the next Liebersl gubmint tears into it again.
