I guess "Democracy Dies in Darkness" just ... died in the darkness.
Murdered by Jeff Bezos who wants to rebrand the paper for "all Americans."
The D.C. paper has memory-holed its self-righteous catchphrase in favor of a new, less foreboding motto:
"Riveting Storytelling for All of America."

"Riveting Storytelling for All of America."
When it comes to the WP, "storytelling" is the only accurate part of the slogan.

“Riveting Storytelling for All of America.”
Calling something a “story” says nothing about whether it’s truth-seeking or a work of the imagination, whether it’s honest or a deception.

“Riveting Storytelling”
When I was growing up “storytelling” was making up something that wasn’t true.
I guess it still has that meaning.

LOL!.....I know right?
At least now they admit to telling stories.
“Riveting” is debatable...but storytelling?... absolutely.

It’s just one more way for the ego maniacs to give the finger to Bezos ...
Bezos should fire half of them now and hire conservatives - then in 6 months fire the other half in favor of liberals who aren’t cult members...

I wonder how much money and how many focus groups and how many “journalism” degree-holders it took to come up with that inane slogan.

“Storytelling” is certainly accurate. Too bad “for all of America” actually means “for the Kewl Kids inside the Beltway.”

Riveting was largely replaced three generations ago by welding and bolting - back when the WP was relevant.

So, they admit that they are “storytelling” instead of reporting.
