What you state, as the scripture reads, makes no sense as the scripture ends with “as yourself.”
What if people hate themselves? Many do.
What I state is based upon my direct observation and experience, in addition to the Bible. As long as you carry sin, you have obstacles to Love in your soul.
Without Love, your soul cannot grow.
This is also why Jesus taught us to Love our enemies. If we hate them, we are attaching our soul to theirs and giving them control over us. Forgiveness is not for them, it is for us to set our soul free and to remove the anger that is an obstacle to Love.
It depends on how you define “love”. Self-preservation is love. Love is not wanting to harm yourself or others. What’s love? Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me no more.
If people studied both, they would better understand Christianity.
For example, the Buddhist concept of No-self is what Jesus was teaching concerning “Dying Daily.”
All religions are teaching you about the anatomy and physiology of the human soul. The soul is the same, no matter your religion.
Thus religions are just different perspectives of the same thing, i.e. the human soul.
I’m Christian and Jesus is my Savior as He lowered Himself to the earthly level to teach me how to allow my soul to grow. That’s why 1 John 4:1 has the power it does over dark spirits.
The Bible is very accurate. Just not understood as people worship Jesus rather than following His teachings. Both are equally important.
I speak from direct observation of consciousness and experience, not just theory. For me, Jesus’s teachings are very scientific. Miracles are just science that is not currently understood.
Love is the spirit that moves us to sacrifice our own needs for the sake of others.
I absolutely agree... It is all about that “one with everything”. I personally think that is what the “holy spirit” is all about...

Love is different at each level of consciousness. It’s easy to understand this when you understand attraction between souls in relationships.
The attraction is to use another person’s soul as a crutch to feel “Whole” which allows us to be closer to God. This is why Paul taught what he did about husband and wife becoming One in the eyes of God, but it is better to remain single.
God’s Love is all encompassing at each level of consciousness. It is beyond words of description it is so profound. Once you experience it, you no longer want to be here on earth in a physical body.
Ever since I died and crossed over to Heaven over 35+ years ago. I have wanted to return every day. I miss it so much. Coming back into my physical body felt like my heart was ripped out.
That’s why I straddle the fence of both realities and refuse to totally return in my physical body.

So having said that, do you feel the universe itself is alive, or is God something separate?

Very true.
The Holy Spirit is Higher Consciousness that is sent down to our level to help us. I see it physically as a golden swirling Light.
This is why rejecting the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin. It is the Holy Spirit that cleanses the sin from our souls. Without it, our soul growth is very limited.
The Holy Spirit is an intermediary that is not quite as strong as the Love and Light of Heaven. The bright Light of Heaven that shines down through the portal through the darkness to guide us home when we depart our physical bodies.
Many souls cannot enter Heaven as they are holding onto darkness. The Holy Spirit can remove that darkness so a soul is no longer afraid of the Light.
This is what I have observed and experienced doing Hospice work with people who are dying.

So are the words “two” and “different.”
Good finds that ARE related to the concept being discussed... The concept is there, it just needs to be recognized for what it is.

Think of it as Irish humor.
Religion is theories and philosophies about the anatomy and physiology of the human soul and how it interacts with its environment.
Science is the search to better understand how God works.
The two are 100% compatible. Just use your religion as a hypothesis and apply science and you will come to a higher level of understanding of both, without discounting either one.
At that level of understanding of science, you also understand why all the different religions teach what they do.

Well they are compatible but not the same. Science is the study of God’s creation. Religion is the attempt to understand God. If I can present an analogy, it’s like trying to understand Picaso by studying a Picaso painting. You can understand his methodology for painting that way, but you don’t really know the person that way.
We are made in God’s image.
God is consciousness and we are seeds of consciousness.
“In the beginning was the Word, and that word was made flesh.”
What is a “word?”
It is a metaphor for a pattern of consciousness that has meaning. Just as a “name” is a metaphor for a specific individual soul consciousness.
What gives life to the flesh? It is consciousness.
There are many levels. That is why I use Russian Nesting Dolls as a metaphor, where we are the little doll in the middle and God is the big outer doll.
Read John 14 where Jesus states that He is in Our Father and Our Father is in Him.
Then down further Jesus says that if He is in us, (which is what Communion is all about) then Our Father that is in Him is also in us.
Try to understand these scriptures without the concept of Russian Nesting Dolls and it is impossible.
This is also the reality I experienced at different levels of consciousness, i.e. different levels of Heaven.
Remember Paul speaking of “Third Heaven?”

With all due respect, that is 12th century thought. We are now coming to a point where science is proving doctrine, and doctrine explains some science. Such as Quantum Entanglement and consciousness. We are finding new God particles through science, which doctrine has been eluding to all along.
But this support of each other can never happen if a “think inside the box” 12th century firewall is thrown up as soon as the word “Science” is mentioned.
