1 big thing: Why Trump picked Gaetz
AXIOS ^ | 11/14/2024 | Mike Allen

President-elect Trump picked Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for attorney general for one, big, telling reason: Gaetz will proudly do the dirty work on controversial legal topics that others won't, Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen write in a "Behind the Curtain" column.

Why it matters: Get used to this. It's your future foretold: On some topics, Trump wants to seem reasonable. On others — like anything related to his suspicion of a hostile "deep state" — he demands his own personal, controllable wrecking ball.

💣 Gaetz, 42, is a wrecking ball, head to toe. Oh, and arguably the most despised one among elected Republicans. But Trump doesn't care, advisers say.

Republicans privately question whether Gaetz will be confirmed by the Senate. But that might not keep him from being attorney general, the most powerful law enforcer in the land. 🔎 Behind the scenes: A powerful MAGA insider who talks often to Trump told us the reason he picked Gaetz is simple: "He likes him."

Trump wants to "stop shit like this," the insider said, texting a news clip reporting the FBI early yesterday raided the SoHo apartment of Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, seizing his phone and electronics. (Details from Dan Primack.) Gaetz's selection set off outrage among lawmakers in both parties. But the insider predicted that "if he can make it to January, Gaetz will be confirmed."

(I suspect the House ethics committee has other files on other Representatives they could leak if they wanted or needed to)

If the Injustice Dept stopped the investigation there was absolutely no case or even a fake case.

Watching the video clips of Gaetz grilling FBI director Wray and Attorney General Garland demonstrate that Gaetz is quite a talent. Brilliant and incisive. A wrecking ball to the deep sate he will be as AG.

The anonymous alleged charges against Gaetz that threaten his confirmation, IF true, are similar to the alleged activity that has been protected from prosecution for years in the Epstein case and on Hunter's laptop.

I’m thrilled with this nomination.

I was initially on the fence about Robert Kennedy, Jr, but decided that Trump has insights I’ll never have, so I trust Trump and I’m enthusiastic now. Hopefully, another wrecking ball.

Even if the RINO’s manage to sink him as AG, Trump should appoint him somewhere in the DOJ and instruct whichever AG does make it, that Gaetz’s instructions are to be followed.

If Gaetz is not confirmed, Trump should appoint Gaetz as Justice Reform Czar or IG.

The entire source at AXIOS is a must read! Will tell you exactly why Trump picked Matt Gaetz. To be a Deep State wrecking ball.
That Trump hates Deep State raids and stunts.... Such as the PolyMarket kid and founder who had his phone + all electronics taken by a bunch of FBI pukes in the early morning.
____________________

Coplan, Polymarket’s 26-year-old founder, was roused from his bed at 6 a.m. by FBI agents demanding he give them his electronic devices, the New York Post first reported.

reported.
NEW YORK, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Federal law enforcement agents raided the downtown New York home of Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan on Wednesday, seizing his phone and electronics, the company confirmed.
The early-morning raid of Coplan’s SoHo apartment followed last week’s presidential election, in which bettors on Polymarket, an offshore, crypto-fueled election gambling website, had for weeks put Donald Trump’s odds drastically higher than those of Vice President Kamala Harris, in sharp divergence from opinion polls.
Coplan, Polymarket’s 26-year-old founder, was roused from his bed at 6 a.m. by FBI agents demanding he give them his electronic devices.
The DOJ is investigating Polymarket for allegedly allowing U.S.-based users to bet on the site, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday evening.
Polymarket declined to comment on those allegations but a spokesperson said the FBI raid was “obvious political retribution by the outgoing administration against Polymarket for providing a market that correctly called the 2024 presidential election.”
The company told Reuters Coplan had not been arrested or taken into custody.
The FBI declined to comment. The Department of Justice and the White House did not respond to requests for comment on the raid.
In the run-up to the presidential election, the site gained widespread attention for the way it placed Trump’s odds high above those of Harris, when opinion polls had for months shown the race in a dead heat.

Then when Sotomayor departs this earth or just the Supreme Court.... Appoint Matt Gaetz for the win!

Gaetz is not a pleasant person, and people I know here in FL say his South Florida family is equally unpleasant (in dealing with tradesmen, etc.).

I don’t give a darn about that because I’m not looking to go out to dinner with him or even meet him. But he is probably the only one who could kick the politicized DOJ to the curb.

They tried to destroy him because they were actually aiming for somebody else in his family and then his name got involved. The reason Johnson doesn’t want to release the investigation report is that it would actually reveal the corruption in the DOJ. He’s not protecting Gaetz.

The DOJ person in this set up and then tried to extort millions from a family member (possibly the father of Gaetz). I believe the extortionist is now in jail, and all of this is detailed in the report.

So anybody who is refusing to release the report is protecting the corrupt DOJ, not Gaetz. He’s open and totally willing to talk.

Bear in mind, I don’t say this as somebody who likes Gaetz. But the GOP has got to realize he’s probably the only one who could do face off against the corruption.

I’d say he, like most of Trump’s picks, are meant to be the shock troops. They may not last (and Trump himself is fickle and often doesn’t support people he picked) but they’ll be the starting gun.

Remember the old Janis Joplin song Me and Bobby McGee...Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose. And Gaetz is free and can expose all this weaponization of our justice system by interested (and frequently paid) parties.

Trump knows something the rest of us don’t know yet.

My theory: a whistleblower in the DOJ gave Trump proof the prosecution of Gaetz was a political hit job, possibly even communications from the White House. The confirmation will be broadcast live on all networks because they think it will embarrass the new administration. The best possible forum for the grand reveal.

I like Gaetz. I want him in there grilling deep state holders on and former deep state criminals for prosecution referrals.

I have said for years now that Trump needs to take a wrecking ball to the Federal government.

He’s found a few. Let them rip. Take it down to the studs.

All you have to do is watch Gaetz grilling Garland, Mayorkas, Wray, SS Cheato, and the others and image the grilling is going before a grand jury under oath. Also imagine Peter Strzok, his squeeze, Clinesmith, Vindman and all the others are waiting for their grand jury appearances.

That’s why Gaetz is vital. He will blow the last nine year conspiratorial insurrection all to hell.
