Some Washington, D.C. businesses have begun boarding up their doors and windows in anticipation of post-Election Day chaos.
Sheets of plywood were seen shielding the windows of several businesses near the White House on Monday, including McDonald’s, Panera Bread and Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Fearing social unrest following Tuesday’s presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, these businesses have taken precautions.
“We’re just getting ready for some stuff that could happen,” a Panera Bread employee told the Daily Caller. “We think there could be a little bit of chaos happening, especially in this area. It happened four years ago — a lot of people breaking our doors in.”
Other businesses are less concerned — even nonchalant — amid rumblings of post-election chaos.
“The consensus among us is [that there are] no safety concerns,” a bartender at The Bottom Line, which was not barricaded, told the Caller. “It’s precaution. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best … [Bottom Line] been here for 45 years, so we’ve survived a lot worse.”
“Something’s gonna happen … if Trump doesn’t win, a bunch of s—t is going to go down. If Trump does win, there’s going to be a bunch of s—t going down,” a bartender at The Xchange, also not barricaded, told the Caller. “I’m gonna sit on the roof and just drink.”
Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Chief Pamela Smith emphasized the need to maintain law and order ahead of Tuesday in a press briefing Oct. 29.
“I want to be very clear,” she said. “We will not tolerate any violence of any kind. We will not tolerate any riots. We will not tolerate the destruction of property. We will not tolerate any unlawful behavior. Offenders will be arrested and will be held accountable.”
The Caller reached out to media officials at McDonald’s, Panera Bread and Potbelly Sandwich Shop for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
Smart move. Everyone knows the libs will throw a temper tantrum if Trump wins.
Protests are ok, riots are not. Arrests and jail time are the only way to stop it. (If I had my way, they’d be shot).
And it ain’t because of the MAGA hats.
I prefer to keep my money. If Harris wins, there may still be riots by masked “Trump supporters”.
Funny how even during the Jan 6 Fedsurrection there was no looting, no property damage except at the Capitol building itself, no arson. Yet these Washingtonians are required to pretend they expect violence from either side.
I suspect that any post-Election Day rioting will fall into the same category as the rioting we see after a big sports win:
Folks rioting for the sake of rioting. Just an excuse to break a few windows and loot a few stores.
Think the dems are going to incite riots if Trump wins? I do too, but it’s going to be worse than that. They are going to bring as much chaos to this country as they can. They are going to harass Trump and try to make his job as hard as they possibly can.
I hope he wins and millions of insane leftists wail and howl at the moon and post stupid snot-nose crying sessions on Tiktok.
People in D.C. have always been stupid.
"Come everyone, let's go watch the frivolity at Bull Run. I understand it will be over quickly for the rebel scum."
They will throw a fit no matter who wins.......
GMTA
Afraid the natives will get restless.
So true. The leftists will protest the loss with violence and looting and they will celebrate the win with violence and looting.
Preparing for trouble .
Is there a conference of rural South Dakota FFA students in town?
No, and I don't want to pay you for the Brooklyn Bridge either.
If you win the bet, I will throw in the bridge for FREE!!
Re: post #11, your tagline about homeless veterans camping in the streets:
With Veteran’s Day coming up, now’s the time to send a check to a veterans organization. My local Elk’s Club is collecting for a Christmas delivery to a local vets retirement home.
So what’s happening in Delaware?.
