CHICAGO — A man with a long history of criminal activity on the CTA’s train lines was shot and killed Sunday evening at the Morse Red Line station, according to a law enforcement source.
CWBChicago is not identifying the man in this story because officials have not released his name, but we have confirmed that he was awaiting trial for yet another robbery aboard a Red Line train at the time of his death.
At about 8:20 p.m. Sunday, at least one gunman opened fire from a dark-colored Jeep outside the Morse station, 1358 West Morse, spraying rifle rounds up and down the block, witnesses said.
The victim, 27, collapsed in the station lobby after being shot in the lower back. Storefront windows were also shot out on the block, but no other injuries were reported.
EMS took the injured man to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he died.

Or maybe just coincidentally another "random" shooting? Or a jealous husband?
FAFO coming back.
It’s about time.
I find the headline wildly misleading, I find it hard to call this a murder.
If and when you reduce or remove legitimate police presence and coddle to criminals and criminal activity you will not like what comes next...
Lack of public safety leading to vigilantism. I’ve been expecting it for a while.

Vigilantes will do the job our police and justice systems refuse to do.
Or gang stuff.
Exactly, loss of the rule of law results in vigilantism, then as it progresses, into tribalism.
Someone had enough of him
Murder takes many forms. This may or may not have been premeditated first degree murder.
But it’s murder nonetheless.
Sometimes bad things happen to bad people
Whatever the motivation of the shooter, this is a good news story.
One less scumbag out there.
Murder is an unjustified death. Not necessarily just somehow not convicted.
Also for self defense it is not considered murdered but instead justified homicide.
Homicide is only the death of a person whether intentional or unintentional, whereas murder is specific to being unjustified exclusively. As such, personally, I can easily see this as not being murder.
Not nearly often enough...
Another freelance socialist bites the dust, but he can still vote in Chicago.
PAYBACK IS A RELENTLESS BITCH
PAYBACK IS STARTING
But it’s justice nonetheless.
Sounds like a public service.
I was in New York city recently and the subways are filled with menacing types hanging around - saw no security anywhere even though Adams swears it's been "beefed up."
I do not carry a purse when I'm in NYC and tried to steer clear of mentally ill and drug-addled types - who seem to be everywhere and have all the rights, not those of us trying to go about our daily lives.
This is what the Founders ment with the phrase, “on pain of death.”
We have now, without law enforcemwnt, returned to a frontier state.
The easiest way to restore law and order is to eliminate the politicans who have imposed lawlessness by their own acts.
When enough politicans have been “held responsible” on pain of death, for destroying our lives, communities and country... they will self regulate into pro law enforcement.
There should be rules or regulations for punishing judges that allow hardened criminals to walk free, up to and including permanent dismissal.
