Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee discusses the latest presidential polling between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on 'The Evening Edit.' 5 minutes 30 seconds.
“It’s something I would think about,” Trump said in response to a question about excluding first responders and military members from tax bills on an online show Maintaining with Tyrus that aired Friday.
I’m a military retiree. The fed government pays my entire retirement, and then takes a bunch back.
Why not just give me less and don’t tax me, I sometimes wonder.
I’m in Alabama, which does not tax military retirement at all.
That’s a bit of a stretch, I think. If limited to the military, I’d support it.
This is likely a bit complicated....if you are collecting SS, too.
Initially military paw was exempt for federal income taxes. Then Congress saw a few billion more dollars they could waste and pass a “temporary” income tax on military pay, which in DC, noting ins temporary.
In response, Kamala proposes no tax on gay folks
I’m ok with this as long as we’re not talking about someone who makes millions in business who “happens” to be a “police officer” or “veteran” don’t tell me there would not be corruption in that system.
Trump is slowly moving to dropping the income tax system. You can see his brain working. All this is building support for the idea.
Active duty military only is my idea. Will there be fraud? Of course.
Flame suit on.
Terrible idea. Among other things, everyone needs to have skin in the game. I’d move in the other direction, and make sure everyone paid something, even if only $50.
Also, we don’t need any more special classes of people. Police have a difficult job, to be sure. But so do emergency room physicians, loggers, power company linemen, etc.
This is the build-up to getting rid of the IRS and the income tax.
I agree, military yes, police and fire no.
Trump needs to give a rest to the ever-expanding NO TAXES FOR THEE statements. We do have a MALIGNANT NATIONAL DEBT AND NATIONAL DEFICIT.
We already have the honor of being a veteran and the service that comes with it.
>> Trump needs to give a rest to the ever-expanding NO TAXES FOR THEE statements.
I think he’s doing two things here: 1) a bit of pandering and 2) trolling Hairless/Balz to see if they’ll pick up and vocalize the idea. :-)
Anyway, even if he’s mind-made-up serious, this isn’t something President Trump could do on his own; he’d have to get Congress to pass it and I rate the chances of that as somewhere near zero in the current political environment.
How about honorably discharged vets get full medical dental and vision care. Small % of the population. Instead of trying to qualify for level 1-8 categories? Some fixing in the disability rating system too.
Tyrus, of Gutfeld, suggested this in an interview with Trump a couple days ago.
While he’s at it, he should work to get rid of Medicare’s IRMAA.
There is no chance that this would ever happen but it is good politics for Trump because if the Dems publicly oppose it that can be accused of being against our brave first responders.
