Far-left, anti-gun Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Wednesday that she is allowing the expiration of her emergency public health order, which temporarily suspended the right to carry guns in public parks and playgrounds within the Albuquerque metro area, an attack on Second Amendment rights.
The initial order, issued in September 2023, created a firestorm across the state, leading to public protests, legal challenges, and impeachment articles introduced. Lujan Grisham’s action, which aimed to curb gun violence following several tragic shootings that claimed the lives of children, ignited a broader debate over the limits of executive power and gun rights.
“I have decided to allow the public health order to expire, but our fight to protect New Mexico communities from the dangers posed by guns and illegal drugs will continue,” the governor stated.

Not to worry. It’ll be back after the election. Like Frosty the Snowman.
Well, don’t re-elect her.
This is an indictment of the voters themselves. The voters are going to go back to sleep. These rotten people know they have time on their side and can do what they want in a very short time.
And that’s when you really need to be armed or die.
Knew it was facing defeat in the courts.
Gun laws have nothing to do with public safety. They are attacks on freedom that are intended to punish law abiding citizens with nonconforming ideas. Every gun law should have a sunset provision and require proof of effectiveness to be renewed. Making life miserable for lawful gun owners does not make the restrictions effective.

Yeah, like the bad guys are gonna follow this “action”. She knows better. Democrats are always after our means of defense against them.
Carry anyway.
Your constitutional rights are not up to the whim of some public servant
Emphasis on “servant”
Look deeper. Is it possible her actions on this are negatively affecting the 2024 election for her party? These little ripples in the water can start telling us a lot about where this election is heading.
To the contrary, they most certainly are. In this instance they were effectively revoked for over a year at the whim of a public servant.
For that entire year a citizen exercising the right to carry could be crushed and bankrupted by the strong arm of the government. This is a vivid example of what we face nation-wide.
Now your premise is also certainly correct. With a little thought it is apparent there are a number of ways to better protect those rights and avoid lapses in our enjoyment of those rights.
An unrelated example, the DOD recently published rules that described abortion protesters as "terrorists". That sounds like a camel's nose under the tent, no telling what sort of trouble could result when using the military as crowd control. The DOD civilians and officers involved should face conclusive repercussions for that action.
Great observation...I hadn't thought about that angle.
Whether you to obey and comply or not is entirely up to you.
There are consequences to either choice.
But it is STILL a choice.
For myself, I WILL and ALWAYS do carry, anywhere and everywhere I choose.
My life is more valuable to me than stupid democrat apparatchik law.
Everyone must choose for themselves.
My rights are non- negotiable; the moment you let “them” dictate what you can and can’t do, you’ve surrendered to them.
For me. That’s not an option.
Oh sure we’re all drunk Indians only until you need help fighting the enemies of the USA.

I’m a Navajo myself living on the Reservation. So I have knowledge of how we live. Only thing that helps alcoholism in any race is being saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ.
