They stopped counting bodies................
They’re saying over 100 bridges will have to be replaced.
Nothing on the volunteer update efforts mentioned though. 🙁
CNN was all ablaze this mornimg saying that militia groups are threatening FEMA workers in NC. I’d like to know what’s really going on with that story...
Govt. only coverage. Of the many reasons no tv for years in this house 🏡
Saw that. Seems like one guy and a rifle allowed the news to go postal.
(actually read it online)
It’s a heartbreaking disaster. But due to the demographic makeup of the area, it will never get the wall-to-wall, around the clock coverage it would receive in New Orleans, Baltimore, or other Dim stronghold.
Those mountains and the Pisgah National forest were where my wife and I “went” every fall. If fact we had a week booked at Mountain Stream RV park in Marion a few weeks from now, but sadly, it is no longer there.
A shout out to Myrtle Beach Travel Park who stepped up and will honor that parks and I think a few more in the area whose reservations got wiped out. Of course as long as you don’t request refund.
Looking forward to going there early November. Over 1,100 RV sites!
And no timeline for rebuilding I-40 from Asheville to TN.
My sister and I rode through there in July. It was breathtakingly gorgeous. Just terrible. So much loss of life and way of life.
CNN is doing that because they want a reason to discount the fact that Biden, Harris and FEMA are out of money, doing NOTHING substantive, don’t want to do anything because they don’t want the victims voting in three weeks.
What I know about the TVA I learned in high school long ago.
Now, while the rain was biblical, TVA authorities knew what was coming some five days prior.
IIRC from high school, the whole darn project was designed to prevent exactly what happened.
WTF?
TVA hasn’t built a significant water shed damin the area since the 1970s. Those type of dams are out-of-favor with the environmental nutball community so politicians are afraid to endorse them. The bottom line is Appalachia has run off problems due to geography and geology. Flash floods happen there. If people are going to live there watershed dams are necessary.

I’ve read that I40 bridge will take up to a full year to repair.
