A man was arrested outside of a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Southern California, and multiple guns were illegally in his possession, according to authorities.
The arrest took place at a checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Coachella at 4:59 p.m. on Saturday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said. The rally was scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
The driver of a black SUV, who was later identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller of Las Vegas, was found to be in illegal possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine.
Miller was then taken into custody and booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
According to the Riverside County Inmate Information System, Miller was released from the detention center Sunday on $5,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Office said the incident had no impact on the safety of rally attendees or former President Trump.

I guess assassination attempts on Trump are so commonplace now that there is a capture/release policy.
Im thinking this might have been a big misunderstanding..this guy is NOT on the left, he went to the RNC convention, he took pics with the Trump family and Newt Gingrich, its possible in some weird way he came there to protect Trump..there have been calls for Trump to get private security, maybe he thought in some weird way yeah I’ll do it I’ll protect him, who knows..this is Riverside County, they are NOT left wing over there if they thought he was a threat they would not have released him this isn’t LAPD

I’m with you. This just doesn’t pass the smell test. I’m thinking this is more about the fakes passes and the weaponry in the car or wherever than he tried to storm the rally and take out the President. Besides, why trust the media when they’re keep making an educated wish?

He had a trove of documents including a fake ticket to the event, fake press pass, fake VIP passes to Coachella rally, fake passport docs, fake ID’s.
Something really stinks here.

One woman I follow on twitter wrote a long tweet detailing how this man is her friend and he would NEVER try to kill Trump..so perhaps this was just a huge misunderstanding, honestly in this day at age with already 2 assassination attempts, he should not have brought any weapons with him, and the fake press pass thing is well, strange..so who knows, the point is the Riverside County Sheriffs dept are not a bunch of left wing loons, its one of the few areas in this decrepit state I live in that is still pretty conservative, if they thought for one second this guy wanted to off Trump they would not have let him go

But the Sheriff who arrested Miller was the one who most strenuously asserted the guy was an potential assassin.
Just watched the Riverside Sheriff’s press conference. He had a loaded pistol with an expanded magazine and a shotgun, both with boxes of ammo. Also multiple passports and driver’s licenses with different names. His vehicle was unregistered with a fake license plate. He was booked on state gun charges (unregistered weapons) and released on $5000 bond. With all that why is he still not in jail?
Wow, that is such a bizarre act if true - we are living in the twilight zone.
It’s sort of like today’s rules regarding shoplifting. You are not prosecuted if it’s less than $900. If you try to kill Trump, you’re not prosecuted unless you draw blood.
