CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour has sparked outrage as she insisted that Iran does not want conflict at the exact moment the nation was raining missiles on Israel.
The British-Iranian journalist claimed live on air that the Islamic Republic does not want its conflict with Israel to 'escalate,' and suggested the Jewish state is to blame for Tuesday's attack.
'Nobody, nobody, not the Lebanese nor the Iranians want this to escalate even further. Iran does not want an Israeli or a U.S. war against it. It is unlikely to be able to resist that, it does not want it,' Amanpour told Dana Bash.
'The Iranian foreign minister told me in New York during the United Nations that they were showing restraint and that Hezbollah was showing restraint as well, and that it wanted, you know, to de-escalate all of this... That was the word also from the podium at the United Nations by the Iranian president.'
Just minutes before Amanpour's statements, her colleague Jim Sciutto was forced to abandon his position on a roof in Tel Aviv as the missiles got closer.
Amanpour went on to say Iran 'felt it had no choice' but to strike Israel after the Jewish state conducted assassinations of Hezbollah members in Lebanon.
'Now, Hezbollah is not there, you know, Iran is not there to protect Hezbollah. It’s the opposite,' she said.
'Hezbollah is meant to be the frontline troops of Iran. So this response from Iran is more likely because it feels it has been left no choice.'

Vice president and Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has set an impressive bar for word salad.
But in one recent, exceptional statement, she was crystal-clear in her ignorance:
Vice President Kamala Harris declared on a debate stage in Philadelphia that “As of today, there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world, the first time this century.”
In addition to ignoring U.S. troops offshore serving in combat situations, she and her MSM cheering squad have overlooked the most direct threat from a nation-state on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor.
But finally, the truth will out.
Even NBC and many other mainstream domestic and international news organizations have now reported on the state of Iran having an ongoing attempt to try and kill our former president and commander-in-chief, Donald Trump.
Top U.S. intelligence officials briefed former President Donald Trump on Tuesday about threats from Iran to assassinate him, a Trump campaign spokesperson said.
“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement.
Iran is now trying to make a direct attack on U.S. soil. Such a move transcends state-sponsored terrorism: Iran has crossed a threshold and is committing an act of war.

Iran is bragging that their “Missiles hit 80% of their targets”
Well yeah, IF their target was Israel’s “Iron Dome” then yeah, they hit their tagrets LOL
(Note- NOT making light of the situation- not that iran’s escalation is humorous, but typical iranian gaslighting like with baghdad Bob is at least a bit of humorous relief in a terrible situation- May God protect Israel and give her a swift and decisive victory!)
Pretzel logic. Israel “had no choice” but to take out Iran’s proxies. They raided innocent towns and a dance festival killing 1200 in barbaric fashion and kidnapping over 250. Hezbullah has fired some 10,000 rockets and missiles, and thousands of mortars, into Israel just over the last year which has caused 80,000 Israelis to flee their homes in the north. Iran armed Hezbullah with as much as 150,000 missiles. They were planning an Oct 7 type attack in the north. But none of that is escalation to Ammanpour. Israel responds by taking Hezbullah and Hamas out which eliminates or greatly degrades Iran’s most immediate threats against Israel, so “their only choice” was to fire 400 missiles?
Yeah, no. They had other choices. Take the loss in Lebanon and Gaza and go home for example. Or never have started. The Palestinians could have taken the two state deal 25 years ago at Camp David. Instead they listened to idiots including the Islamists who rule Iran who told them to keep fighting.
I’ve noticed that pretty much everything Iran does is “mostly peaceful”. 🤣
“Iran does not want conflict” must mean they don’t want Israel to strike back.
Usually it’s not that people that say things like this are dumb. They are expecting the listener to be dumb. Or they are buried to their neck in the “a**hole” of a leftist silo. Gross ignorance in that case.
Would it be acceptable for Mexico to lob missiles into the US?
