Ahh, the security of a well-stocked food pantry.
...disrupting the supply chain while Appalachia is trying to recover from life-changing floods...bastards! Enjoy Hell.
Halt supplies and surrender to whoever ?
Biden/Harris stand in solidarity with the Unions.
The Tate Hartley Act should be invoked. Our economy is teetering on recession.Arms supply to our allies? Forgedabowdit!
Trump would never have let the issues get this far, the problem would have been solved early.Biden is on the beach.....playing pudding pud with Jill.Harris is too busy grooming her word salads. Such incompetence.
BTTT
77% raise.. insane. To bad Reagan wasn’t still alive, they’d all be fired.
Yes, we have no bananas….we have no bananas today…..
Call out the NG! Do what Reagan did with the ATC.
Well, I’m glad to see Pete is “on the job!” Maybe if he would quit posting junk on Twixxer and “work his magic” we could have avoided this. However part of me thinks this is planned and part of the strategy for the “October Surprise..”
Thanks for posting. BUMP!
Been on a history trip in gorgeous (but insane) Boston, and returning home to CA today. So, sorry for the inconvenience for those here on the East Coast, but remember it’s in a good cause of it persists long enough to effect the election. That said, I’d bet money the administration pulls a statutory rabbit out of the hat to temporarily get the workers back on the job, though Biden’s labor masters have told him not to do that. On the other hand, fixing this is in Buttigieg’s portfolio, so maybe it’s more likely than they’ll f it up.
ILA president Harold Daggett: “This is going down in history, what we are doing here.” “They can’t survive too long.”
Supply chain disruption is never good for the incumbent party in an election.
Another reason to consider some of the disadvantages to globalization. It puts a tremendous amount of power into a few small groups such as the ILA. The ports are choke points in the entire supply chain.
Never underestimate Brandon’s ability to #### things up
T”he White House has engaged senior officials including Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, and Director of the National Economic Council Lael Brainard since late last week in an effort to bring the ILA and USMX back to the bargaining table to negotiate a deal quickly.”
Well... that’s encouraging...
The government can stop this, but they won’t. They’ll force local taxpayers to foot the bill for these enormous concessions.
Biden will not invoke Taft-Hartley to get the longshoremen back to work. Not good news for the Harris/Walz campaign.
Watching the grain market now. Shoulda contracted before this strike. Biden should step in to cool things off. Maybe he knows something we don’t. how’s he gonna blame this on republicans?
80 percent of the ports are owned by foreign companies.
The ports themselves might be owned by local port authorities but, they are leased and terminal control is run by foreigners.
How’d do you all like that?
I would like the list of foriegn companies and I bet you can’t guess who the hell they support in this election.
