From the outside, Pixar’s narrative is a clear story of redemption: after an undeniably tough few years – battered by COVID-19 theater shutdowns, two Hollywood strikes, and a couple of box office disappointments – the studio needed a win, and that win was Inside Out 2.
...The sequel to Pete Docter’s Oscar-winning 2015 blockbuster is Pixar’s biggest hit in years, and it’s not even close. Inside Out 2 isn’t just Pixar’s highest-grossing film. It’s the highest-grossing animated movie of all time, sitting at a jaw-dropping $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s a stunning turn of events when considering the studio’s aforementioned recent struggles. And who doesn’t love a redemption story, especially when a brand as beloved and nostalgic as Pixar is involved?
But for many of the workers behind Inside Out 2, its record-shattering success is more than a little bittersweet. As reported earlier this year, the studio began layoffs affecting 175 workers, or 14% of its staff, in May. And not only are laid-off employees unable to benefit from a bonus for Inside Out 2’s success – some are also recovering from what several sources describe as an “unprecedented” crunch surrounding Inside Out 2.
“I think for a month or two, the animators were working seven days a week,” one source says

They probably all voted for Democrats, so screw ‘em.
You work for Disney, you get what you deserve.
Given the debate and all the other issues, people should not watch or work for Disney or ABC
Instead of expressing the thought “screw them”, try understanding and appreciating “The Joy”......lol
It’s my understanding that this is common practice among studios. See the interesting history of Rhythm & Hues story when working on The Life of Pi. Really highlighted the corrupt nature of the studios and the entire facade of Hollywood then. In some ways it’s just a huge money laundering scheme at taxpayer’s expense.
Starve the beast.
But go to the movie theater and watch "Am I Racist?"
No one worthwhile cares.
Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 sounds like a pretty good movie.

I took my granddaughter to see it and was pleasantly surprised.
What did you like about it?
Very good. I liked the end idea that all feelings are valid and normal and have a place in how we are as a person.
I knew nothing about the original so I had no expectations. There was actually a decent plot line, the voice acting and animation was well-done, and there was no excessive wokeness (or if there was, it was lost on me). My 8 y/o granddaughter enjoyed it to, so it was entertaining to a wide range of ages.
If this is what you're referencing it could be different than you think. Often times you can't draw unemployment if you get paid out vacation, etc. (at least until that equivalent time period has elapsed). This could also include 'bonuses'.
The last part of that (unprecedented crunch) isn't understandable, IMO. They worked hard - did they get paid overtime? Were they offered paid time off afterwards?
I abhor Disney as much as the next person, but I think some of these problems are really due to state labor laws, etc.
Disney will cancel a successful show on tv I think at 76 episodes just so they do not have to pay residuals.
Meanwhile the ceo gets 100’s of millions in pay.
