WASHINGTON (AP) — Worries of being uprooted from their jobs have returned for Laura Dodson and other federal workers, who have long been the economic backbone of the nation’s capital and its suburbs.
During former President Donald Trump ‘s administration, her office under the U.S. Department of Agriculture was told it would be moving. About 75 people were going to be relocated to Kansas City, Missouri....
The proposals to move a large number of federal workers infuriate local leaders in the suburbs of Washington in both Maryland and Virginia...
... Campante said it also has a downside....“I think it is a positive factor for accountability that you have civil servants also operating as a check on political appointees, and this would be weakened ...

Sounds like a job for Kamala...
Fed jobs exploded under Bush and Clinton and then Obama doubled down. This is how they got Virginia blue and she has stayed that way. Want to turn a state blue? Infiltrate education and grow the government with leftism.
These people are the deep state.
Here we go. We’ll be awash in sad sack stories of people disrupted by that mean, heartless Trump.
Good! Keep it coming. Clean out the viper’s nest!
Re “… You can’t fire these people but …”
Why?
They’re like “special” or something?
If they’re not doing their job or trying to sabotage an administration, they should be removed and prosecuted like any of us would be
We could open embassies...
Those who can’t be fired an be sent TAD to say Zaire or Mali
Move thei jobs of every single member of the Senior Executive Service to a new federal facility in northern Alaska with no heat or Internet so that most will quit. Those that don’t can freeze as partial payback for how they’ve screwed this country over. Phuck’em!
Evansville, des moines, and Sioux falls.
I think most should be fired and their departments closed down for good.
Why else would the USDA be headquartered there? All the farming expertise is clustered In the nation’s capital.”

Hey, I was born and raised in North Dakota. It’s a great place to live, except for the weather. I suppose there IS some ice fishing there, but most of the ice fishing, is done next door, in Minnesota.

“who have long been the economic backbone of the nation’s capital and its suburbs.”
That’s the problem.

BLm has most vacant land in the west, Montana would be a good location.
“ Campante said it also has a downside....“I think it is a positive factor for accountability that you have civil servants also operating as a check on political appointees.”

Exactly.
We need to rein in the SIZE of the Federal Government. It will take years, but has to be done.
I know where a lot of us would LOVE to send the Federal “workers”.
As a former Fed employee in the DC metro area, I can assure you that 100K+ jobs could be eliminated without any negative impact in the nation (improvement is quite possible).
Oddly enough, that local office was mostly filled with people that had actual farm experience and worked at the ground level.
Given the offices in KC were a sh*thole, it probably was viewed as punishment by DC types - the farming class saw indoor work, steady pay and benefits, and A/C as an improvement.
(Used to drive by the place years ago commuting)
