NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have raised alarms about a series of "strange noises" coming from the malfunctioning Starliner capsule as of August 1, 2024. With a long way still to go before making it back to Earth, the veteran astronauts, currently residing on the International Space Station (ISS), are reportedly encountering a ‘pulsing noise, almost like a sonar ping,’ according to the recording, first shared by a meteorologist named Rob Dale.

Probably a sonar beacon for a water landed reentry.

Had you heard of this before? It seems as though it is real regardless of when it was first noticed. After a month, what did they find?

Does the ISS have a way to unhitch Boing Boing ships?
The whole thing may come tumbling down.

I think this capsule doesn’t have s/w to undock without being piloted from inside the capsule. And I don’t think they are able to do a s/w update on it either. Not at present anyway.

Probably a sonar beacon for a water landed reentry. Or a sonar beacon ring tone.

The very first thing that came to mind was the intro music to the X-Files.
The Starliner capsule will attempt the return to Earth without anyone aboard.
Some of the recent Boeing stories are really airline maintenance issues. That said, I do not believe it is possible for Boeing to recover.
One of the few moves Boeing could make that would improve their standing is to endorse President Trump; however, President Trump just might respond with: “thanks, but, no thanks.”
