Russia pushes on key Ukraine city while Kyiv's Kursk incursion slows
BBC ^ | Aug 31, 2024

Russian forces are just a few kilometres from the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, a crucial logistics hub used by the Ukrainian military.

Home to a key railway station and major roads, Pokrovsk is an essential supply and reinforcement point for Ukraine’s troops on the eastern front line.

Critics in Kyiv fear that the country's military has made a serious miscalculation.

By sending troops into Kursk instead of reinforcing the eastern frontline, the military has left Pokrovsk and other important Ukrainian towns exposed, these critics say.

“Secondly. Neither NATO or America have annexed anything in old Yugoslavian territories.”

- Ummm... Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia have all become Members of NATO. Bosnia and Herzegovina has applied and even Kosovo is trying to apply. So... -

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You deeply misunderstood the process here.

The countries you mentioned have either already applied or are applying, spontaneously, to NATO. Is that a problem?
It’s a sovereign decision those countries have. They are not slaves to Moscow and the Warsaw pact anymore which they were FORCED to be part of under Russia-Soviet tyrannical rule (during the cold war era).

NATO is NOT a country it can’t annex anything. It doesn’t do what Russia does, stealing and annex other nations territories. NATO is a defensive organisation that was built to stop Russia’s never-ending imperialist expansion into other’s sovereign nations.

I hope you have not forgotten that Russia invaded half of Europe and as such did what Hitler did. Russia never liberated Europe from Hitler. They simply replaced Hitler’s tyranny with Stallin’s invasive Soviet tyranny - which for some European countries was considered as even worse than Hitler’s.

It’s not easy to become a member of NATO.
Sweden and Finland worked like hell to FINALLY get the approval of ALL the other 30 NATO nations!

Yes, ALL NATO nation must give their approval, if only one says no, then the applying country can’t join!
Even Russia-friendly NATO nations like Hungary and Turkey gave their approval for Sweden’s NATO membership. It took a lot of time though... many thought that Turkey and Hungary would never lift their VETO against Sweden’s NATO membership demand. But they finally accepted.

Sweden, who before Putin’s war on Ukraine was heavily anti-NATO, clinging to its +200 year long neutrality, totally reversed course after Putin’s blatant gangsta-like invasion of Ukraine.

Russia is seen by small nations as a Nation-gobbler.
Those small nations know what happens to any nation which is not part NATO, it will be attacked by Russia! Look what happened to Georgia, Moldova, Crimea, Donbass and then the entirety of Ukraine. Also, the Kremlin has threatened many times to invade Poland the Baltic states... It has also threatened America again and again with a nuclear attack!
Imagine if Nato or America threatened to attack RUssia with nuclear weapons... They simply don’t. Because they don’t behave like the gangsters running the Kremlin...

Putin has caused many times more damage to Europe than all Islamic terrorist organisations have combined these last 40 years.

The Kremlin is a terrorist organisation financed by oligarchs. Those who suffers the most from it are of course the Russian citizens. They pay a HIGH price in blood and taxes to satisfy the deep-state-Kremlin’s never-ending war games.

Your picture explains perfectly the desperate Russian situation.

Since Ukraine has mass-destroyed Russian tanks by the thousands and thousands... Russia has now no other choice than to use... horses! :) :) :)

Your picture projects Russia’s defeat in a realistic way.

Thus, Russia can’t use (and has not even uttered anything about that) historical events that happened in Serbia

Someone must have missed the entire interview of Putin by Tucker Carlson.

Yes, Milosevic was a likely war criminal (but died before the verdict). But NATO took the side of actual convicted war criminals who committed crimes against Serbs in the process of tearing off a piece of Serbia. No, Kosovo was not like the others. It was always part of Serbia.

Even if you can't learn from history, rest assured that others will.

After that point, Ukraine is simply losing more over time and has no real chance to turn anything around. So it would make sense to end it in order to minimize the loss. If you can’t maximize wins, at least minimize the losses. But we kept this war going.

Ukraine's only chance long term (or short term originally) is to put up enough resistance to where Russia decides the fight isn't worth it.

And why would Ukraine give up? If some Communist country invaded us and actually could manage to eventually win, you wouldn't fight to the death to keep your freedoms? Didn't Patrick Henry say something about forgetting such people were ever our countrymen?

As I have said earlier this week in posts, I never supported Kosovo’s independence from Serbia.
But whether we like it or not if Milosevic had not done what he did, Kosovo would have stayed Serbian. It’s a collateral damage.

Ukraine isn’t a democracy, doesn’t have a good human rights record, is corrupt, socialist just like Russia, and not sovereign.

The ethnic Russians in what today is Ukraine but at various times was part of Russia, hardly equate this to some Patric Henry quote.

Finally, if you start a war and then lose, should I feel sorry for you? This started a war: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

Nice post, except none of that is true.

The Ukrainian government had nothing to do with Russiagate or Manafort. During the impeachment, Zelensky's government backed Trump's version of events. The Ukrainian ties were all Russian assets, meaning Putin.

All of which was discussed o this forum while Trump was in office, for those who care to look it up.

Socialism: a political and economic system in which property and the means of production are owned in common, typically controlled by the state or government. Socialism is based on the idea that common or public ownership of resources and means of production leads to a more equal society.

US share of GDP that is government: 38.5%

Russian share of GDP that is government: 36.559%

I get it, home of the free and brave, and lots of talk about democracy...

Meanwhile, a handful of people will decide who our next president will be, a government bureaucracy what light bulb you use and how much water per flush your toilet uses. You have vaccine “mandates,” mass censorship and government will use eminent domain to seize private property and give it to for profit corporations. You have ZERO government accountability and little transparency (everything is classified today). You have kangaroo courts (FISA), and no privacy. You live in a country where the government more or less decides what car you drive, what your kids eat in school, and gets to close churches when they feel like it (done during Covid).

Yeah yeah, home of the free and brave.

What country do you live in?!?!

Our “democracy” is a farce.

Farce meaning https://g.co/kgs/WKuG1Qa

You basically have a handful of folks decide who you get to vote for (who gets on the ticket) and how you should think about them (control over MSM and big tech as well as mass censorship today).

And, if the people dare question it, they are labeled insurrectionists and sent off to prison: https://www.newsweek.com/full-list-capitol-rioters-jailed-sentences-january-6-1826075

That was a Stalin like purge, minus the bullet to the head. At least we go through the motions of being a republic with a rule of law.

All true potential problems were eliminated using the “state organs” of intelligence, law enforcement, and judiciary. In one swoop, the government eliminated the leadership of the Proud Boys, Oath Takers and one other group. They intimidated their followers by interviewing them even if they broke no laws (unprecedented). Discredited them in the media and drew attention away from what were essentially questionable elections at best.
