Trump says he’ll vote to uphold Florida abortion ban after seeming to signal he’d support repeal
Associated Press ^ | August 31, 2024 | Michelle L. Price

Former President Donald Trump on Friday said he will vote no on a Florida ballot measure that would repeal the state’s six-week abortion ban, a day after he seemed to indicate he would vote in favor of the measure.

Trump has said he thinks Florida’s ban is a mistake and said in an interview with Fox News Channel on Friday, “I think six weeks, you need more time.” But then he said, “at the same time, the Democrats are radical,” and he repeated false claims he has frequently made about late-term abortions and said that he opposed allowing abortions up until nine months.

“So I’ll be voting no for that reason,” said Trump, who is registered to vote at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. …

Well, I guess he got some pushback on that lenient stance.

There are several threads that were posted when the news came out that he wanted more than 6 weeks.

Even the States Rights FReepers took exception to this stand.

I’m glad to see he made a mistake and is retracting his pro-abort comments. I hope he means this.

Waiting for the apologies from the concerned few who said Trump turned his back on the pro lifers

You’ll get an apology from me when Trump also retracts his comments supporting Reproductive Rights, his support of Free IVF, his support of the federal government mailing out Abortion Pills and other pro abort policies.

You’re right.

We should lose the election instead and screw EVERYBODY :)

that’ll teach em!!

It’s amazing. Certain people will be screaming for the Death Penalty for these kids 18 years later when they never had a chance because of an INSANE upbringing.

And YES, I am against abortion. Its an extremely unnatrual act that goes against God.

But it already cost us a midtern....it was a disaster.

It can’t cost us a presidency too.

The SCOTUS overturned R v W.

Now the states can decide what to do.

That’s why we’re a republic :)

Or did folks forget.

I can no longer support Any National GOP candidate.

Go ahead and cut off your nose to spite your face.   See how much better you will be with the Laughing Satanic Hyena in the White House.

If we believed that aborting babies was just a “local issue”, then almost none of us would be much interested in it.

An elective procedure to remove unviable tissue mass would not be of concern to anyone.

Have you visited your State Capitol Building to let your representative know how you stand on issues?   Did you let your Lt. Governor know why you visited him?   It's a local issue.

I've got to say, our State Capitol is amazing.   I even got to go on the floor in session to give my Representative something his staff said he was waiting for.

See post 63, if it isn’t killing innocent babies and isn’t taking innocent human life, then it is what you say, just a local issue, something people argue about although who knows why.

federal government mailing out Abortion Pills

What is this about "federal government mailing out Abortion Pills" that I have never heard of!   What allows our Federal Government to provide Abortion Pills.   Are you lying or do you have a link that says that?

Of course it is murdering babies.   And in that case it not a Federal issue as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022) ruled.   In that case, it is a local issue in each state.   The fact we are talking about it even when Roe v. Wade sits on the ash heap of history proves that.

Your red herring of aborting babies to remove unviable tissue mass doesn't even make sense.   Go to your State Capitol and march to make it right where you can do some good.

Trump says he will not enforce law banning abortion pills by mail, angering pro-life groups
Christian Post ^ | 08/23/2024 | Ryan Foley

Isn't it funny that Trump, who took abortion out of the RNC platform where it had been for 40 years and has (incorrectly) said this issue belongs to the States is now enabling the Federal Government (USPS) to facilitate abortions.

If it is murdering innocent babies then it can not be allowed anywhere, it is far more than a “local issue”, Roe was a bizarre and illegal interpretation of the constitution to make legal nationally what you think should be legal in states.

There are a lot of places that the feds have to make a policy on abortion, abortion was legal in some military hospitals before Roe, for example, and of course there are conditions to make for foreign aid, etc.

President Trump should stay out of state politics. It's a no win situation.

Trump is a Florida citizen. And journalists ask him about some Florida voting stuff.

What kind of foolishness are you trying to spew?

Roe was a bizarre and illegal interpretation of the constitution to make legal nationally what you think should be legal in states.

I am against abortion period you dastardly FRiend.   I have read the U. S. Constitution and it doesn't say a thing about abortion.   That is why Roe v. Wade was over turned.   Each State must pass laws for itself.   Any Federal law against abortion would be declared unConstitutional just as the pro abortion law was.   This is a States Rights issue just as murder is prosecuted in each individual State where the act occurred.

The Georgia Supreme Court on November 23, 2022, reinstated the state's ban on abortions after approximately 6 weeks of gestation (3 weeks of pregnancy). The limit is when embryonic cardiac-cell activity is detected via ultrasound.[30] On October 24, 2023, considering a challenge to the ban, the Georgia Supreme Court upheld the ban and sent the case back to Fulton County Superior Court.[31]

Stop trying to pin on me the way our Founders structured our government.

You think states can pass laws allowing women to kill their one year old children and that is that, just local politics and it would be allowed?

It's funny that you don't see how it was right for President Trump to get abortion taken out of the RNC platform after he got Roe v. Wade defeated by putting three conservative Supreme Court Justices in office.   How can you be so hateful and unappreciative about something Pro-life groups had prayed for and marched for, for over fifty years?   You make me sick.

No, no, no.   You don't give up but you keep fighting to straighten up your own State.   This is not, never has been and will never be a Federal Issue, because that would not be Constitutional.

Remember the old saw: "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have."

The Georgia Supreme Court on November 23, 2022, reinstated the state's ban on abortions after approximately 6 weeks of gestation (3 weeks of pregnancy).
