Former President Donald Trump on Friday said he will vote no on a Florida ballot measure that would repeal the state’s six-week abortion ban, a day after he seemed to indicate he would vote in favor of the measure.
Trump has said he thinks Florida’s ban is a mistake and said in an interview with Fox News Channel on Friday, “I think six weeks, you need more time.” But then he said, “at the same time, the Democrats are radical,” and he repeated false claims he has frequently made about late-term abortions and said that he opposed allowing abortions up until nine months.
“So I’ll be voting no for that reason,” said Trump, who is registered to vote at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. …

Ping.
All the threads explaining why him voting yes was the right thing to do, the smart thing, the necessary thing, all those posters and their posts, and now this.
This should make for interesting reading.
This one didn’t stick.
>>”All the threads explaining why him voting yes was the right thing to do, the smart thing, the necessary thing, all those posters and their posts, and now this.”
Likewise with all the threads claiming he betrayed the Pro-Life movement.

Oh really?
Please show me ONE thread wherein it was “explained” that “voting yes was the right thing to do”.
Just one.
By your use of “All the threads...” you imply there were dozens of such threads. So my request for just ONE shouldn’t be hard to answer.
I’ll wait patiently.
As liberal as Europe is they only allow it up to 12 weeks
Trump is attempting to avoid a national version of Kansas 2022
Ohio was a disaster

Trump’s personal opinion on abortion limits is that six weeks is too short of a time. When a state’s abortion limits are TOO RESTRICTIVE we’ve seen that that promotes things such as state constitution change referendums to make ALL state restrictions on abortions unconstitutional. And Trump is correct, IMHO.
Evangelicals are sabotaging his presidency.
It sure appears that at least some of them are, which begs the question. Why?
Opus?
I see no involvement of “evangelicals” here.
It wasn’t too long ago that I said that one of my litmus tests for a politician was the abortion issue. If they are “for” abortion they don’t have the heart/morals that I want as a leader. That goes for a lot of evangelicals I would think.
However - I do agree that it should be a state’s right issue like Trump wants. And while abortion goes against what I believe, I also believe that Trump will be a much better president than Harris. (He is also a better person).
These types of decisions remind me of when I asked a lawyer friend about the outcome of a huge (and famous) business lawsuit. He said “Well, in the end both parties were able to come to a compromise and things were resolved. So that’s good. But it just seems like such a, well, compromise.”
Hmm - I wonder if there is a book out there with the title “The Pragmatic Idealist” or something?
LOL. Of course there is - on Amazon! (They have EVERYTHING):

Obviously.
The bots may have their own
Interesting link. I’d never heard of him or the book before, but it points out that throughout history, “the right thing to do” has not always been obvious. From a pragmatic point of view, I think Trump’s approach to the abortion issue is more sensible than anything we’ve heard from either Republicans or Democrats over the past 50 years, and his approach is likely to save more lives than a more hardline anti-abortion stance would.
Unless we’re prepared to go to war over the abortion issue, it will ultimately be decided through consensus. And the most effective way for the pro-life movement to achieve consensus for its beliefs is to focus initially on the extreme end of the spectrum (i.e. late term abortions, partial birth abortions and post birth “abortions”), then work from there. The issue had become so divisive that it forced many people who might naturally oppose abortion in most instances into believing that they only had two choices - either guarantee access to abortions under all circumstances, or ban abortions under all circumstances. Such polarization of the issue made any constructive dialog very difficult.
He’s a Florida voter. He’s allowed to have an opinion on the matter.
10% of the abortions in America are late term.
It isn't what Trump wants, but what is Constitutional. President Trump's desires have nothing to do with an abortion law in Florida.
