California to Provide Subsidies of Up to $150K for Home Buyers - but Only If They're Illegal Immigrants
Red State ^ | 08/26/24 | Ward Clark

Posted on 08/26/2024 8:46:23 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Just when you thought California under the impeccably coiffed Gavin Newsom and the lunatic asylum that is the Democrats in the California state legislature couldn't get any more ridiculous, someone sets the bar even lower. Now we see that the legislature's Democratic supermajority is likely to pass a bill providing a home-buying subsidy for first-time real estate buyers of up to $150,000.

That sounds like a stupid enough idea all on its own, doesn't it? Not only is this wildly inflationary, not only will it make homes even less affordable for your average Californian, not only is it an egregious waste of taxpayer money in a state that's already going broke - but it's also only available to people who are in the country illegally.

Yes, that's right. California is proposing to subsidize illegal immigrants to buy homes that law-abiding Californians can't afford.

The Democratic supermajority in the California state legislature is likely to pass a measure this week that would make undocumented immigrants eligible for the "California Dream for All" loan program, a state-funded program that provides 20% in down payment assistance up to $150,000, according to a report for Politico.

Participants in the program must be first-time homebuyers, and at least one must be a first-generation homebuyer, while income levels must be below certain limits depending on the county where the recipient lives.

Yes, you read that right: This will make "undocumented immigrants" - illegal aliens, people whose very first action in the United States was to break the law - eligible for over six figures of free taxpayer cash to buy a home, a home that would otherwise have gone to a legal resident of the once-Golden State - but who probably can't afford it. Not only is this measure a slap in the face to every Californian who can't afford a home in their own state, but it will also, again, jack up the prices of every Californian home on the market.

Governor Newsom is keeping mum on what he thinks of the whole thing:

The measure comes amid the backdrop of a national election in which immigration has taken center stage, the report notes, with the Trump campaign attempting to tie Vice President Kamala Harris to Biden administration border policies that have proven unpopular with voters.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has been one of President Biden’s and now Harris’ top surrogates on the campaign trail, has not said whether he will sign the bill into law if it clears the legislature before the Aug. 31 deadline.

Granted, most governors tend to be reticent about discussing legislation that is still making its way through the sausage factory.

But the obvious question for California democrats is: Why are you doing this?

Why would the state legislature want to subsidize illegal aliens to buy homes that Californians can't afford? Well, there is one possibility involving one unshakable rule of economics: What one taxes, one gets less of, and what one subsidizes, one gets more of. The Democrats in California's legislature want to attract more illegal aliens - from south of the border and from elsewhere in the United States. Why? That's the question. Could it be that they see this as a way to reform their voting base?

I've lived and worked in California. It's a beautiful place. I can see the appeal; I really can. Beautiful scenery from beaches to deserts to mountains, a salubrious climate - it's a lovely state, and I've enjoyed the time I spent there. But their state government is out of control and seemingly doing everything it can to destroy this place that was once so aptly named "The Golden State." But now? The streets of the cities are littered with discarded needles and human waste, the roads are in terrible shape, and now the state government proposes a six-figure free handout to illegal immigrants.

In the meantime, the productive leave, the moochers and looters stay, and the diminishment of one of our greatest states continues.

The 14th Amendment requires equal protection under the law. I submit that ‘protection’ also includes favoritism and bias such as this. Further, by not offering the benefit to non-illegal US citizens, the state would be DIRECTLY violating the 14th Amendment.

There’s only one thing missing... the beneficiaries have to be Muslim (that would be the English or French dhimmi condition).

Could you imagine the irony if the United States gave California to Mexico? A bunch of illegals would be back in Mexico and all the Hollywoods that threatened to leave the U.S. if Donald Trump was elected President would no longer need to leave.

This has to be about increasing the number of humans living in the state in order to regain possible lost federal House representatives. It seems like an expensive way to buy votes. Can’t imagine how much CA real estate prices will increase as this takes ef.

Loans, followed soon after by loan “forgiveness”, due to the “unfair burden” of debt on poor illegal aliens.

The cronies get full value for their previously overpriced, unsellable property. The bank foreclosures on the property and sells it at repo for 85% of the original value to Blackrock. Blackrock funnels money back to the politicians and the cycle is complete.

The elite take care of themselves.
