Fifty Republican military veterans serving in the U.S. Congress on Wednesday sent a letter to Democrat vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (MN) harshly condemning his lies about his military service.
They said in the letter, which was released as Walz readied to deliver remarks at the Democratic National Convention:
The Office of the Vice President is a position that requires the trust of the American people and a solemn commitment to duty on behalf of the United States of America. As veterans who have served our nation, we feel compelled to address your egregious misrepresentations and urge you to come clean to the American people.
The Republican members said Walz should be proud of his service in the National Guard, but added, “There is no honor in lying about the nature of your service.” They wrote.
Repeatedly claiming to be a ‘Retired Command Sergeant Major’ when you did not complete the requirements was not honorable. Nor was it honorable to claim to carry weapons ‘in war’ when you had not served in war, and abandoning the men and women under your leadership just as they were getting ready to deploy was certainly not honorable either.
Walz falsely claimed he was a retired com....

So Tony Gonzales is the legitimate most senior enlistman to serve in Congress. Master Chief Petty Officer is an E-9 equal to a Sergeant Major.
Yes, this.
Not just me, my fam is wonderfully loaded with Vets (and a few still in.)
None of us, NOT ONE, has ever misrepresented, lied, or even embellished his or her service. NOT ONE.
My point, my dear FRiends?
All Vets, and those who currently serve honorably, should recognize, alert others, and soundly condemn stolen honor.
Bumper stickers might read...
... NO HONOR THIEVES!
Considering Trumps Viet Nam War service with his purple heart award for bone spurs, this is not the issue that needs to be focused on.
The Biden Border Invasion, Fentanyl from Mexico with photos of some of the hundred thousand Americans killed every year while Kamala was Border Czar would resonate far stronger with the voters than Walz’ tarnished military service record.
Also political adds featuring Kamala raising money for the rioters who burned down city blocks in Minneapolis could have a Willie Horton political add effect in November.
Uh Ronny Jackson is not a retired Admiral, and Troy Nehls has worn a Combat Infantryman Badge that was not awarded to him, and one of the two Bronze Stars he claims is in question. Ooops!
Something is not right here, how can you be a lieutenant (Ret)? OK, I can see medically retired. But are all those listed really retired?
“how can you be a lieutenant (Ret)?”
Navy Lieutenant is O3
Two ways -
Enlisted service prior to being commissioned, and medically retired.
My son is a medically retired Army Staff Sergeant from Iraq service with 10 years in.
“this is not the issue that needs to be focused on.”
All these issues need to be focused on - All guns in the fight.
I probably have the closest experience to MSG Walz.
I am a retired MD Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major.
I was eligible to retire when I was a First Sergeant and my company got alerted for deployment to Iraq in early 2005. I could not and would not turn my back on my Soldiers I claimed to lead.
I was eligible to retire in 2007 when my battalion was mobilized for deployment to Iraq. I watched with scorn when other senior NCOs took the retirement dodge to avoid deploying with their Soldiers.
I was eligible to retire in 2011 when as Command Sergeant Major of my Infantry battalion, we were yet again mobilized and deployed. Again, I could not turn my back on my Soldiers.
And, BTW, I completed my coursework at the Sergeants Major Academy.
This is a valid issue which speaks directly to his character.
Yesterday, Breitbart had article saying 65% of voters are against Walz for lies about stolen valor. Voters care.
Everyone on the list is (Ret) in grades that should not be retired. Yes I understand you can be enlisted and move to officer, but that is not normal. IMHO there are too many out of norm retired grades on the list.
I found article. It says 55% of voters are concerned about Walz’s stolen valor claims, including 65% of Hispanic voters: https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/08/19/nolte-55-likely-voters-say-tim-walz-stolen-valor-accusations-are-serious/
Okay, and your point is?
I will grant you that.
Random checking shows that a number of them served, but not enough to qualify for retired status.
And yes, that annoys me.
In political campaigns everybody has to learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.
:-)
That some of the signers did the same thing Walz did.
I would bet that many of them aren’t retired, just an article author that has no idea what she’s doing. The only two not “retired” are in Reserve or Guard, so I’m guessing she just put “(ret.)” next to everyone who isn’t currently still in the military.
Looks like someone escaped Reddit to post lies here.
