This, children, is how you get a “food desert.”
[dine-and-dashers]
In the old days they were called “thieves”
People tend to learn lessons the hard way.
Society is disintegrating in slow motion.
Maybe another vendor will try a new Denny’s in San Francisco soon, but this time, by appointment only!
San Fran can follow the new Chicago plan and have the city government run stores. As we all know, government run businesses always make a profit.
Interesting the story is published in a New York paper.
I seem to recall.... Some city eithe complained or made it illegal that restaurants made customers pay up front....because “THAT’S RAYCISS!”
Isn’t this how prepaying for gasoline started? I mean it would go against the way restaurants have operated since forever but they maybe could have tried that. Maybe they concluded SF just isn’t worth it period.
It is so sad. I’d like to vacation like I did 30 years ago in both San Fransico and LA, but now I fear to visit both those cities.
My favorite bar is Najas at the strand in Redondo Beach, would love to go back, but I don’t trust the area.
I don’t see me going back to California anytime soon.
Now I’m craving a huge breakfast from Denny’s.
My kids gotta eat, racists......
Fun fact:
“George Christopher (born George Christopheles; December 8, 1907 – September 14, 2000) was a Greek-American politician who served as the 34th mayor of San Francisco from 1956 to 1964. As of 2024, he is the most recent Republican to be elected mayor of San Francisco.”
San Francisco can run the diner.
Please order via your mobile phone or ask the hostess to assist you.
In Spain, I normally ordered McDonald’s food via a kiosk.
“business conventions — had dried up in recent years due to” street crime, muggings, car break-ins, epidemic open-air drug use, filthy sideways occupied by filthy squatters, etc., etc.
How fitting.
Mission St. south of Union Square is right by Moscone Center, the main convention venue.
Not ALL conventions are gone. This May I arrived just in time for the RSA (IT security) conference. I wasn’t planning on going, but a friend gave us tickets. Didn’t stay long, but it seemed well attended.
The restaurants in the area were full, to the point that we couldn’t get a reservation all week for the Brazilian place, Fogo de Chão.
Non doubt there aren’t enough conventions. It doesn’t help when the nearby venues close, like the shopping district, which was a major draw.
Before I decide if I should feel sorry for him, I’d like to know who he voted for.
So since this will be a Denny’s food desert, the city will pay for luxury limo service for any homeless or financially challenged street person to go to and from the nearest Denny’s in another region. No gratuities necessary. Diners will be able to use prepaid Master Cards from the city taxpayers.
Talk about a Grand Slam.☕🥞🧇🥓🥓🍳🥘
