Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro likely lost the recent elections in his country because no one believes the official result. He was declared the winner after reports of the usual shenanigans, which included police forces barring people from entering polling locations. The State Department voiced its concern about the legitimacy of the results because they were fugazi.

As the sun set in the capital of Caracas, there were skirmishes in the streets. Elsewhere, police and military units were either surrendering to protesters, refusing to follow government orders to contain the protests or outright joining them. Meanwhile, the purported leader of a Venezuelan gang, Tren del Llano, threatened Maduro and his allies, urging them to listen to the will of the people lest there be bloodshed:

Good evening people of Venezuela,
We are making this video to call out the armed forces and the public forces of the state. We do not want to generate more violence.
My advice is that, listening to the people, they should entrench themselves in their commands and let the people decide to put in and remove whoever they have to put in and whoever they have to remove.
I have nothing more to tell you. This is a warning call. I don't want violence, I don't want to generate homicide. I don't want to generate death. We are not generators of death.
If they do not entrench themselves in the commands, we will use everything we have and all my people throughout the Huárico State will begin to launch attacks on the officials
Is Venezuela on the verge of civil war? Let’s hope not, but Maduro’s grip on the country appears to be loosening fast. We’ll keep you updated.
Well, that is the way it is done here. In other countries people are not so fat and happy and have more guts.
I’d read many of these twitter/X snippets from other sources. Hopefully true because in my experience nobody ever actually votes their way out of socialism.
A vote may be a catalyst, but either
- the people + military/police turn on the leadership (as here, hopefully);
- the military/police effect a coup usually resulting in some other jerk continuing the oppression; or
- the military/police put down the people and the misery steepens
Praying for the removal of Maduro and socialism and minimal bloodshed.
These guys support Putin, Xi, Madero/Chavez etc…
They post here as propagandists.
As soon as he gets verification that all of his billions have been successfully transferred to his offshore accounts.
Biden, Obama, Harris, et Al
Let us hope so. There are worse things than a civil war, and one of those is being ruled by a communist who will kill more people in the long run than a civil war would.
This nation should have demanded the corrupt 2020 elections be thrown out. A rigged election is not a valid election, and only valid elections should be tolerated.
>RE: Given that Maduro has recently gotten cozy with the BRICS, one wonders what side our Deep State is on in this conflict.
Our DS sides with the Dollar as it’s their primary means of control.
Little niceties like political ideology wither before the primary lever of power.
Yesterday, there was an article from the India Times saying that CommieLa had tweeted out that “the will of the Venezuela people has to be respected” in their vote. This right after Maduro was declared the winner. Even Blinken declared just the opposite. Why are we not hearing anything else about this?? She basically tweeted out that this was a fair election and that dictator Maduro won fair and square. She did not even wait to see if this was true even though the polls showed the opposition way ahead ringing all kinds of alarm bells! Already a big blunder by the Harris campaign and crickets!
IIRC Chavez started to disarm the military and build a private army and Maduro has continued that work. Also the civilian pop. has been disarmed, so I don’t see a successful civil war. What I see is a Dem/ socialist/ progessive’s wet dream.
Socialism MAY be dying in Venezuela but it is being forced on the people of the USA by the Demonrats who have no limits on what they will do to achieve their goals.
Well I wonder if we will see another Ceausescu moment in Venezuela soon?
It always comes down to the military.
Without the basic right to own firearms, the Revolution boils and boils on, and the masses continue to suffer.
Amazing how much courage can be summoned when you are hungry and have nothing left to lose.
They’re the ones with the guns
———
Correct, but history shows ALL dictators are deposed only when their policemen and soldiers ( enforcement) finally turn on their leadership.
God be with them.
No civil war, no uprising, nothing.
Cuban Intel and Russian troop will squash any attempt.
what civil war? The Venezuelan people have been disarmed. The police and military have all the guns.
