ANKARA (Reuters) - President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey might enter Israel as it had done in the past in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, though he did not spell out what sort of intervention he was suggesting.
Erdogan, who has been a fierce critic of Israel's offensive in Gaza, started discussing that war during a speech praising his country's defence industry.
"We must be very strong so that Israel can't do these ridiculous things to Palestine. Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them," Erdogan told a meeting of his ruling AK Party in his hometown of Rize.
"There is no reason why we cannot do this ... We must be strong so that we can take these steps," Erdogan added in the televised address.
AK Party representatives did not respond to calls asking for more detail on Erdogan's comments. Israel did not immediately make any comment.
The president appeared to be referring to past actions by Turkey.

NATO Article 5 doesn’t protect you if *you* initiate hostilities. No one’s going to bail you out when you start getting your ass whipped.

If Turkey attacked first article 5 will not be invoked. It is the defense of a member from external attack not their own stupidity to start a war. Individual nations can support what side they want.

Wait a minute, the Arab-Islamic world hated Israel and her leaders in 1920, 1929, 1936-39, 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1982, 1993, 2000, 2006 and every year since then.

Erdogan is playing politics to take the minds of Turkey’s citizens off their economic disaster. Turkey has some of the highest inflation in the world. Higher than countries fighting a civil war. This is one of those political tricks called, “Look! Shiny thing!”

Since all of Bibi’s enemies are muslims and muslims hate Jews and hate Israel even more, why would it be as surprise that a muslim country like Turkey would side against Israel?
Do you think its time for Jews to convert to Islam to make you happy? And if All Christians converted there would be no more hate?

One other element that can throw a wrench into the NATO gears: last I checked we still have nukes at the Turkish airbase at Incirlik.
