Progressive issues are winning at the ballot level in states controlled by conservatives. And it’s been happening steadily since 2016.
In response, conservative legislators have significantly intensified their opposition to ballot measures nationwide as we the people have successfully raised the minimum wage, expanded Medicaid, created fair redistricting maps and protected reproductive freedom. The battle for the future of direct democracy has come to the state capitol dome, where legislators have introduced bills that aim to complicate the process of passing ballot measures. These are deliberate, calculated, and organized tactics employed by conservative legislators to undermine the ballot measure process and thwart the will of the people.

this is a bill of sale printed by communists masquerading as conservativee.

I’m sure the average American today is a lot smarter than our founding fathers
A lynch mob is direct democracy in action.
If only we had a Special Assessment on the Incomes and Assets of EVERYONE in the Entertainment Industry to pay for welfare and the cost of illegal aliens, everything would be great.
Mob rule. The citizens are too stupid to understand what direct democracy means. They have been brainwashed and dumbed down so much they will buy anything their keepers tell them.
Wrong kind of democracy. Taxes are supposed to only go up where dims are concerned.
“It’s always fun to remind them that democracies are three wolves and two sheep voting on what to have for lunch. Or three rapists and two women voting on how to spend the afternoon.”
When they say “democracy” they mean “lynch mob”.
I thought the United States was a constitutional republic. I must have missed something in civics class.
Direct demo = mob rule. Not representative republic at all. Anyone advocating this is commie trash.
As to CaCaLand referendums, judges ruled long ago that they are not binding. Did this on the BulletTrain BS and the gay marriage votes.
Make reps accountable.
California reps are not accountable. They are term limited out. This is why I oppose term limits. They get 4 years to loot, kick the can down the road, and then get another job - often enough with some entity that benefited from their financial and ethical corruptions. By the time anyone notices, it’s somebody else’s problem, someone who also has no incentive to fix it because they also won’t stand for reelection but one more time, before the effects of their budget/policy/laws have an impact. It’s a total disgrace what the Democrats are doing to California.
$24 billion we spent on “homelessness” and we have more homeless than ever. Now Newsom is “ordering” localities to clear out encampments. It’s a dubious order he’s governor he can’t order elected sheriffs or appointed police chiefs to do anything. Maybe he can withhold some homeless funds to localities, otherwise it’s toothless order other than on state grounds. He’s been campaigning on the homeless issue since he ran for Mayor of San Fran - what was that 20 years ago? He accomplished nothing ever. He owns a winery and the most expensive restaurant in the country where he went to violate his own Covid orders. He’s just butching up for a potential 2028 run I figure. Anyway where are you going to move the homeless? You tear down one camp where do they go? This state is truly buggered. Oh and we do have a $70 billion deficit, maybe Newsom is going to help close that gap by cutting off the homeless outreach graft machine. If he’s gonna run in 2028 he needs to show resolve, appear moderate, and fiscal responsible to escape his flaws, if he can at all.
Fixed it.
🖕🏼 Chris Melody Fields Figuerdo and Emma Olson with a baseball bat.😖
