As thousands of Republican voters flocked to Milwaukee to officially declare former President Donald Trump as their nominee for the presidency, reporters and talking heads remain transfixed on what kind of vision Trump will lay out for a second administration.

Unfortunately, we already know.

Despite his best efforts to distance himself from Project 2025, Trump has made clear that his platform for a second turn as president will dismantle America's promise as a welcoming nation of possibility. No matter what he chooses to call it, he is committed to enacting disastrous immigration proposals that will set our country back for generations.

More Americans are learning about Project 2025, the 922-page far-right wish list authored by the Heritage Foundation and various Trump loyalists who either served in the Trump administration or aspire to work during a second term. It's a playbook that dramatically centralizes a president's executive power, dismantles regulatory agencies that safeguard Americans, and rolls back protections for civil and reproductive rights. Specifically on immigration, Project 2025 promises to return to and expand Trump's worst policies on immigration.

the 14th amendment was not meant to allow pregnant tourists to squat out their spawn on American soil to produce a citizen. literally not how it works.

just read the first line:

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

illegals are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States nor do they reside in any state.

the left has been pushing the anchor baby concept since the late 60s.

only canada bestows citizenship via the soil. period.

dear newsweek, disastrous to whom?It is way past time for Americans FIRST, and everybody else, without exception, second.
The ‘anchor baby’ has to stop.

There was a premise brought forth, in the 1950’s, that citizenship was earned through military service, whereas themilitary veteran has put his life for his country, therefore he has a voice in thee future of his country.

The military veteran ran the government, the bureaucracy, the legislature, all courts were tribunals.
Though military service was voluntary, the non-veteran was almost a non-sequetor.
Quite the opposite today, with the military veteran classified by some, as a non sequetor.

Why is swamping America with the communist, criminal dregs of the world who already hate America good for Americans?

We are being colonized and subjugated by the world like China was during the opium wars. That is why whites are undergoing Jim Crow 2.0.

“If a child is born to parents who entered this country illegally, they should not be given citizenship. They should be citizens of the country they left.”

Children of foreign diplomats born here in the U.S. are citizens of whatever country their parents are from.

The 14th Amendment has two requirements for birthright citizenship: (1) born in the United States AND (2) subject to the jurisdiction thereof. It is a fundamental rule of statutory construction that a statute should not be construed so as to render any provision meaningless or superfluous, yet the second requirement is constantly ignored.

I doubt this will fly by executive order, Trump is going to have to get Congress pass legislation to kill birthright citizenship.

Even that is not assured the Supreme Court could kabash such a law, it might take a constitutional amendment.

Years ago a number of advanced,civilized countries had birthright citizenship. The only ones left are the US and Canada.All the others dumped it after realizing what a disaster it is.

What does it matter if it’s legal or not or if she is a citizen or not. Lawfare is the new game in town. Bring it up and have somebody charge her. Take her to court. Let’s have a judge decide .She deserves to get double with Donald Trump got he spent seven years fighting with things that were not legal. It didn’t stop any of the assholes from doing it.

Birthright citizenship is written into the 14th Amendment. It would take a constitutional amendment to change it.

That's because diplomats are held in a different category. They have diplomatic immunity and are not under the jurisdiction of the law. The same is not true of illegal immigrants.

The problem is some people want to read a meaning into "under the jurisdiction" that isn't there. If you are under the jurisdiction, you are subject to the law. Think about who that applies to, and who it doesn't. There are very few categories of people who are not subject to our law while on our territory.
