This would be great if Mayorkas bothered to answer. The nature of deflection so far (blaming the locals) makes me wonder if the coverup is really about something else, specifically the site commander. I’d like to see the SS Director (not Mayorkas, who is skilled at not answering) grilled on the following, after giving her the queries in writing ahead of time:
Who was the agent in charge of the whole show?
When was this person hired?
Did this person contribute towards fulfilling the Director’s DEI goals?
Was this person working for the SS, or was he/she on loan from DHS?
What was the person’s experience with assessing sites, designing security plans, and running events successfully?
Had this person commanded security at Trump rallies in the past? Any political rallies or events?
Any past issues or failures?
Who gave the agent in charge this assignment?
Etc. - The whole point: was the event security run by an incompetent DEI hire?

Imagine how Mayorkas’ and Cheatle’s stonewalling would be going down with Republican lawmakers had the assassination attempt succeeded?
But then, had the assassin succeeded, the focus of Republicans would be splintered into many directions as chaos would certainly be reigning right about now.
The fact that the assassination attempt ultimately failed so spectacularly (including the lightest, most visible, and least disfiguring of wounds) has to be considered by the Deep State to be a grave threat to it’s continued existence.

Excellent questions that deserve answers.
But that was not the situation on July 13. The sole Democrat candidate with SS protection was also POTUS, and already had a SS detail. The sole Republican candidate with SS protection was a former POTUS, and already had a SS detail. No independent candidates had SS protection on the 13th.
Given that Biden is making fewer appearances than usual for a POTUS, I am very skeptical that there was an operational need for Trump to have a SS detail that was both under strength, and largely not even SS.
