The assassin of Republican president James Garfield was a Republican, but an odd one involved in a strange religious sect.
Overall, Republican presidents have been targeted far more often than Democrat ones.
He is a chameleon and will lie and fake any position of belief for his clapping seal audience.. he has been at the forefront of Trump hatred for years. All he cares about is “the damage” done. Not because Trump was nearly killed, not that democrats are frothing raving violent lunatics, not that we are ruled by insane commies, but because his party was “damaged.”

Just to add to your list: the person who shot George Wallace had originally stalked Richard Nixon in an effort to assassinate him, but decided that his security was too tight and turned his attention to Wallace instead.

Mahar also told the women of The View some time back that he was NOT able to hate half the American people. The women of The View expected him to hate Trump AND all Trump’s supporters - like Hillary did with her ‘deplorables’ comment - and like most every sycophant and/or monster who works for MSNBC does... (yes, there are two or three decent people at MSNBC - and yeah that’s weird)
It was as if someone wanted us to hate George Soros - and while we’re at it to hate all Jews. That would be wrong. Maher knows where ethical lines need to be drawn. It’s OK for conservatives to ‘hate’ George Soros - but not OK to paint with the broad brush. He’s right on this.
Maher has no problem standing alone and not having the benefit or comfort of a tribe. That’s gotta be rough at times. But what a blessing for all of us that men like Maher exist - on both sides.
