Dem Rep. Garamendi: Trump May Be Cutting Dirty Foreign Policy Deal Like Reagan Did with Iran Hostages
Breitbart ^ | 07/13/2024 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 07/13/2024 10:29:56 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Friday’s edition of Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) suggested that 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump is engaging in some sort of deal like “what happened to Jimmy Carter when Reagan and his troops cut a deal with the Iran[ian] ayatollah and leaving Jimmy Carter to hang out there.”

Garamendi said, “If there’s going to be a cognitive test, let’s not have a kindergarten cognitive test, which is what Trump continually talks about. If there’s going to be a cognitive test, yes, both should. But I would like to see Donald Trump stand in front of the international press corps, as Biden did yesterday, and answer the questions, answer the detailed questions about international relationships, detailed questions about national security. And I’d like him also to explain to the international press why he spent four years as President, basically tearing apart NATO and handing the keys to Putin. And I remember the press conference in Helsinki. I remember what happened there. And all of us, now that we have Russia invading Ukraine, all of us should be aware of what’s going on.”

Another garbage dynasty heir heard from. Just helping destroy LA wasn’t enough, now they’ve branched out to destroy America.

what happened to Jimmy Carter

What happened to Jimmy Carter!?!?

He says this as though Carter was the victim in that fiasco. People were being held hostage because of an incompetent President and Reagan got them out of there because Carter wouldn’t and somehow something “happened” to Jimmy Carter that made him the victim.

This type of thinking that politics outweighs everything else in importance is disgusting. And it’s the very same thing that keeps Biden in power when he should be removed.

Question 1: Name the President of Ukraine. Bonus: Name the President of the country currently engaged in war with Ukraine.

I don’t know if there were any negotiations between Reagan and Iran for the hostages, but this congressman is talking like it would have been a bad thing.

IOW, the hoax about the Reagan campaign's supposed backroom deal to keep the hostages locked up is now being trotted out -- it's an old and quite typical Demagogic Party trope.

The only back channel covert deals with the Iranian mullahcracy have been by Kerry, Obama, Biden, and the rest of the junta.

You want to talk about a dirty foreign policy deal Mr. RAT? How about Obama’s backdoor deal with Iran, for which there was no Congressional involvement...a deal that saw billions of dollars released to Iraqi leaders who had no legal right to the money, because none of them were in power at the time the money was originally paid by the Shah’s government for military equipment, based on a contract made with him prior to his being removed from the throne. Obama had no legal authority to release that money, and Biden had no legal authority to release more money to them, which was likely used to plan the October 7th attack on Israel.

My, my, my. The release of the Iranian hostages was absolutely clear. A strong man rose to the WH and the Mullahs knew it. Carter may have tried, but someone made the desert operation into a failed cluster. I've always wondered who devised and executed that failed mission.

Without researching, didn't the Mullahs release the hostages within days of President Reagan taking office? The Mullahs knew their shit was going under the bus if they didn't release the hostages.

It reminds me of the formal agreement President Trump had with the Taliban in his Aftgan exit plan. "We will exit on date ________. You attack any American or Ally or Interpreter/Supporter during the process, we will rain hell on you like your world has never seen."

As we know Biteme moved the date giving the Taliban organizing opportunity, and we all saw the debacle that ensued ON LIVE TV! I wonder what Rep. Garamendi had to say about that.

I want more “dirty” deals like Reagan and less of the ones like Carter did.

Think back. Carter mounted a botched rescue operation that left American dead bodies and equipment behind in the desert in a very cowardly manner.

They’re throwing every lunatic conspiracy theory out there to try to distract from their Nursing Home Joe problem.

How long have they known Potato Head was senile? & How long have they been covering it up?

As I remember it, the mullahs released the hostages before Reagan took office. A few hours before he was scheduled to take the oath of office their plane took off. They were terrified of what would happen if they still had American prisoners with Ronald as Commander in Chief.

If I remember correctly, President Trump didn’t have a list given to him of who to call on in his press conferences. I don’t remember any invasions of Ukraine while he was President either.

They freed the hostages as they knew unlike Carter, Reagan was going to flatten their country if they didn’t release them.
Carter was all peanuts and talk.

You mean ALGORE’s infamous ‘October Surprise’ witchhunt, that went on for the whole of Reagan’s two terms and finally determined....nothing happened?

Ok...as long as Trump gets the questions in advance, from friendly press, like Biden did.
