A growing chorus of Democratic officeholders is calling on Joe Biden to retire from the presidential race, and high-buck donors say they will withhold $90 million if he is the candidate–which, in the scheme of things, isn’t all that big a number.
Why are the Democrats airing their horror at Biden’s candidacy in public? Because they don’t have any behind-the-scenes way to force him out. Their convention will take place in a few weeks, and Biden has virtually all the delegates. So the DNC’s only recourse is public pressure, putting them in the bizarre position of assuring us all that their president, the man who won almost all their convention delegates, can’t win. While Biden seeks refuge in his bunker with his closest advisers, Jill and Hunter.
But is it true that Biden can’t win? The New York Post reports on a poll that shows him in the lead:
President Biden leads former President Donald Trump among registered voters despite his debate flop on June 27, besting any potential alternative Democratic nominee — including Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new poll. The NPR/PBS News/Marist College national poll released Friday found 50% of registered voters nationwide support Biden’s 2024 candidacy, while 48% back Trump in a head-to-head matchup. Just 2% remain undecided.
The 81-year-old incumbent has gained on last month’s survey by the outlet, which saw him and Trump tied at 49% among registered voters head-to-head.
You might think it is a questionable poll when Biden’s position has improved in the last month! But you can be sure that Jill (or whoever) is putting results like these in front of Joe, arguing that he is the Democrats’ best hope, and that he can, in fact, win.
In a survey released today, Rasmussen has findings that are better for Trump, but also odd. Rasmussen finds Trump ahead nationally by six points. But here too, Biden’s disasters of the last few weeks seem to have improved his standing: Former President Donald Trump has maintained his lead over President Joe Biden in the past month, in the wake of the June 27 presidential debate.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, in a two-way contest between Biden and Trump, 49% of Likely U.S. Voters would choose Trump and 43% would vote for Biden. In June, Trump led the two-way matchup by nine points, 49% to 40% for Biden.
I have no idea what to make of this. It is inconceivable that Biden’s horrific debate performance, and the ensuing controversy among Democrats, could have improved his standing with voters. And yet, our politics are so polarized, and frankly so weird, that his evident senility doesn’t seem to have hurt him, either.
So, can Biden win? I don’t think so. But we are living in a political era in which the fact that a candidate is manifestly incompetent to do the job may or may not affect his vote totals. So who knows? Maybe Biden could pull it off.
I am starting to conclude that Biden's better at this than Trump. He is after all a career politician. Biden keeps repeating a few easily understandable themes (lies). That's how elections are won. Biden keeps claiming over and over that he's the one that speaks the truth. You keep repeating something and people will believe it, as Hitler's right hand man Josef Goebbels said. Biden's a pathological liar and Trump's team lets him keep saying he's the truth teller and Trump's the liar, with no real pushback from Trump.
We think Trump's witty, charismatic etc. That doesn't do any good if people think Biden tells the truth and Trump lies. Trump being more charismatic might even help Biden if they believe Biden's the truth teller.
Do Democrats count the votes?
Trump is fine. Biden is playing to the angry left completly. Now they are ranking around the angry old coot. Trump should still hit Biden hard, but be the levled headed one. Biden is going to get meaner, angrer, and crazier. Trump will look like the calm option. That is a total reverse of 2020.
His 46 percent base would vote for Stalin.
The election of Donald Trump is solely dependent on voter turnout. Every vote is crucial!
BIDEN HAS LIED ALL OF HIS LIFE.
WHY STOP NOW???
IT IS ALL HE KNOWS.
HUNTER IS THE SMARTEST MAN HE KNOWS-—
JOE “HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNTER’S BUSINESSES”
ETC ETC ETC ————
“It is inconceivable that Biden’s horrific debate performance, and the ensuing controversy among Democrats, could have improved his standing with voters. “
Yes, inconceivable. Yet they are doing it.
A blind man could have seen this coming 4 years ago. These people are not stupid.
Unrelated note, I just read an article about how AI can predict Alzhiemers outcomes with 86% accuracy. That’s pretty good.
Why aren’t Congress and/or Senate doing something with Amendment 25 to get Biden outta office?
Do you really think that?
It depends on voter fraud, just like the last stolen election.
They steal any election they want after running these crappy year long dramas to please the normies.
See post 5.
Voter fraud, just like the first time. Biden did not legally receive the highest popular vote count of any Presidential candidate in the history of this country in 2020. Anybody who believes that is profoundly retarded.
It certainly appears that way. And if that’s reality... we’re headed for trouble no matter what.
I have been hoping those numbers are cooked, but I’m not so sure.
He can’t win with 46 percent. But, we should all be prepared for what these Marxists lunatics will do in November.
Yes, that’s true but those 46% came from somewhere, probably our education system. That system is going strong and has 20 years of voters in the chute.
And our side is losing numbers every day!
I don’t belive that. Especially amoung men of color. They are repulsed by the left. The left are a nosy, nasty 45 to 46 percent minority.
It will come down to Simple Math.
Biden + Voter Fraud = WIN
You can’t win without the middle.
Well, I hope you’re right. 46% is a minority but it is a little too close for comfort.
I don’t think it was 46% in the 60s, so it has definitely been trending the wrong way.
