Russian troops push back Ukraine’s underequipped soldiers

KYIV — Ukrainian forces are pulling back along parts of the frontline under fierce Russian pressure; Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed the difficult situation on a lack of weapons for his soldiers. That's likely to increase pressure from Kyiv during next week's NATO Washington summit for its allies to speed up arms deliveries.

“This is not a stalemate, but a problematic situation," Zelenskyy told Bloomberg on Thursday. "A problem can be solved if there are tools and desire. We have the desire, but the tools have not arrived. We have brigades without weapons. We have 14 brigades that do not have the appropriate weapons that have already been voted on and talked about."

He added that weapons "are coming slowly, unfortunately. Today we need to protect what we have. We will launch offensive action when we are ready. When the weapon arrives ... and it is not there yet.” Ukrainian Army Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi also pointed to the lack of well-trained and motivated troops as a key problem. However, Zelenskyy argued that the situation with troops "is much better than it was three months ago." Ukrainian frontline open-source investigators from the Deep State project spotted Russian troops advancing in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Kremlin forces managed to gain ground over the past two weeks after they launched a new offensive against the coal-mining town of Toretsk. “The active line of the front has grown,” Syrskyi said in a statement earlier this week. “Fighting with the enemy continues near Toretsk. The occupiers unsuccessfully attacked 18 times near the nearby villages of Pivnichne and New York. As of this morning the enemy launched 30 attacks near the same settlements,” Nazar Voloshyn, a Ukrainian army spokesperson, told POLITICO.

Two days ago, Ukrainian forces had to withdraw to the other side of a canal running through the outskirts of the key town of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.

“It was impractical to hold the Canal neighborhood where the enemy entered because the positions of our troops there were destroyed, so it was decided to move to more protected and better-prepared positions,” Voloshyn told Ukrainian TV on Thursday.

The Ukrainian position was made untenable thanks to pulverizing attacks by Russian glide bombs, the press service of King Danylo's 24th mechanized brigade told POLITICO on Friday.

Russians have been pounding Ukrainian positions with glide bombs, dropping 111 in the last day in addition to more than 4,000 artillery strikes, the general staff reported on Friday.

If Chasiv Yar is captured, Russian forces will be able to launch an offensive against the next series of Ukrainian strongholds guarding their last foothold in the Donetsk region.

Russians have been storming Chasiv Yar for more than six months and, despite the retreat, they have still not taken the town, Voloshyn added. He said that Ukrainian troops have prepared defenses on the other side of the canal.

100 plus glide bombs ( 1500-3000 lb FAB’s)in one area, one day. Vlad’s hammer, lots of them, no end in sight….fast moving now, Chasov Yar mostly taken. Good to see westerners starting to realize the reality…and what about those 14 Brigades supposedly standing ready? Yeah, right.

Is this Russian propaganda or Ukraine trolling for more money?

Hard to tell these days.

How could they possibly be under equipped? Could the $billions we have sent them been misappropriated? Surely not!

I don’t believe ANYTHING I read about the war in Ukraine.

But, if the lowly Russians are winning on the battlefields because the Ukrainians don’t have equipment then it’s time to start organizing some firing squads in the Ukrainian Army to shoot the soldiers, civilians and politicians who have clearly been stealing A LOT of the tens of billions of aid that has been sent to them.

The US and NATO have given Ukraine all they need to equip a modern army twice the size of the existing army. What happened to it?? You siphoned it off to your friends making them all multi-millionaires. Zelensky has much to answer for.

If they’re under equipped, It’s because Zelensky, et al, have skimmed, nay shoveled too much of what we’ve given them.

From Kiev in time for consumption for NATO to give more weapons. The congress had to approve the 61B earlier becasue Biden funded Ukraine without authorizations, and this was pay for all the weapons that NEVER STOPPED FLOWING INTO UKRAINE. Since the 61B we have given Billions more. Now NATO meets and Ukraine needs more equipment. Hell, we sent them 700 Bradley’s a few months ago.

Britian has stated the Storm Shadow Missile can be used anywhere in Russia. NATO has now began the mission creep into WWIII. We may wake up one morning and find that 40 targets across Europe are hit, or 400 in a massive pre-emptive strike on NATO.

Poland is trying to effect a no fly zone over western Ukraine. The opportunities for expansion of the targeting is going to reach Europe.

Kiev’s situation is deteriorating all the time.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has rebuked the West and India has broken the Sanctions.

I’m guessing American and NATO country weapons have been sold on the black market and now Zelenskyy wants more.

To be strictly fair to Poland, they’re doing that because they’re getting far too many ‘accidental’ Russian aircraft incursions and cruise missile ‘overs.’

Ukrainian victory can only come about with the shedding of German, French and English blood.

All the “Ukraine is corrupt” children dove into the shallow end of the pool.

Ukraine is short of weapons and ammo at the front because a bunch of self-important “conservatives” held up funding in Congress for months. I’d say “shame” but they have none.

There is no possibility of Ukrainian victory now no matter who joins, including even all of NATO. It is a land war in Russia against Russia and that never ends well. Ask Napoleon and Hitler.

Is it time already for yet another 60 BILLION DOLLARS OF AMERICAN TAXPAYER MONEY? Come on, Chad, don’t badmouth American patriots. Have YOU fully remortgaged your home and raided your kids’ college funds to give it all to Zelensky yet? Or are you still, like all others of your ilk, still THIRSTY FOR MORE OTHER-PEOPLE’S-MONEY?
