He did on several occasions; I understand that because of the format he needed to add or rebut something about a prior question, but he could’ve done that in 15 seconds and then knocked it out of the park by answering the actual question. This was a blown opportunity.

However, looking at the bigger picture, maybe Trump and team didn’t want to crush Joe too badly, which would guarantee him being replaced - and Biden on the ballot is a guaranteed win for DJT. Any other candidate can fob off Joe’s disasters on Joe or his problems, and say that “I am different and wouldn’t make the same mistakes.”

Independent voters are often more casual. They are more persuaded by appearances.
There is no question that Biden’s performance was pathetic.
The masked facies, lack of physical gestures, stuttering and halting speech, downcast face and unfocused staring will convince voters not to vote for Biden.
He has Parkinson’s until proven otherwise.
