The spokesman for the Israeli military explained that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s goal of eradicating Hamas is not achievable. The statement comes amid a growing rift between the Israeli leader and the military. In remarks to Israel’s Channel 13 News on Wednesday, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the military spokesperson, explained that the PM’s stated objective in Gaza is an insult to the Israeli people. “This business of destroying Hamas, making Hamas disappear – it’s simply throwing sand in the eyes of the public,” he said. “Hamas is an idea, Hamas is a party. It’s rooted in the hearts of the people – whoever thinks we can eliminate Hamas is wrong.” The statement from Hagari reflects assessments from US intelligence and military officials that destroying Hamas is not something that can be accomplished. The US intelligence community’s threat assessment released in March said that Israel would likely be fighting Hamas for years to come.

“...eradicating Hamas is not achievable.”
Much like the necessary elimination of Islam to save Western Civ.....
Hamas, ISIS, and Hezbollah are like the mythological Hydra.
Cut off one head and two more take its place.
The Russians took a couple of years to destroy Gronzy but they were able to pacify the population in Chechnya.
But don’t let that stop him from trying.
200,000 - 400,000 people in Gaza Strip would have to be "liquidated".
People in Gaza are fighting for Hamas. Therefore, they're willing to die for Allah.
It’s the goal that matters.
“they’re willing to die for Allah”
Help them.
Netanyahu did not state that his goal is to “eradicate Hamas”, but rather to distroy its military and governing capability.
And now the obvious truth comes out (not how you spin it):
Clearly DS has had years to infiltrate IDF.
It now all makes sense. All of it, including how 10/7 was permitted to occur.
Hagari is throwing sand. The phrase isn’t to be taken literally. Netanyahu wants to destroy Hamas’ fighting battalions and their weapons tunnels etc. He also hopes he can prevent them from being a political party and internal security force in the next government. He knows Hamas the ideology can only be defeated if the people adopt a better ideology. Hamas wasn’t always terrorist they used to just be a humanitarian organization 40 plus years ago. Now every political group has their own armed wings and every city may have their own ruling clans. Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, PFLP, etc all have armed wings. When they aren’t attacking Israel they are prone to attacking each other for turf, power and influence.
Well...the Allies largely made the Nazis disappear.
Seriously?
They have significantly degraded the existing Hamas.
They should be able to eliminate the current fighting force
A clever-sounding rationale for not being willing to actually solve the problem.
Curtis LeMay had it right.
"Kill enough of them and they will stop fighting."
That means kill or expel almost all of the Palestinians. That is what it will take to end the war.
And if the Israelis cannot or are not willing to do that, then eventually the Muslims will kill or expel almost all of the Jews in Israel.

HUGE ditto!!!!!!!!
Take the General Pershing approach...
“permitted to occur”
You keep stating that which you totally made up without evidence.
That is what has to be done though, because it’s more than obvious, that Palestinians will never live in peace with them.
I assume that the IDF and the civilians in Israel believe that if they take out all the Hamas leaders, the war will end.
We know that it's going to take so much more than that.
