House of Representatives passed a measure on Friday automatically registering men aged 18 to 26 for selective service.
It was part of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which sets out the U.S. government’s military and national security priorities over the next fiscal year.
This year's NDAA authorizes $895.2 billion in military spending, a $9 billion increase from fiscal 2024.
While it hasn’t been invoked in over half a century, it’s mandatory for all male U.S. citizens to register for the selective service, also known as the military draft, when they turn 18. Failure to register is classified as a felony and comes with a host of legal challenges.

Republicans control the House and the requirement is that only men register, basically because the reality is they are the ones who fight wars if you want to win. The Democrat controlled Senate of course included women because their bible states DEI wins wars

How real in terms of a percentage would you guess our elections to be?
I think most Americans, including myself, are tired of decisions made for the benefit of politics. The question arises, should every male be made to enroll themselves into Selective Service and draft eligible for this country; regardless of whether it fairs the political winds? The answer to that question is unequivocally yes. That answer should be without hesitation. I’d go one further to say every citizen should be required to serve. We’d have less of a garbage society as a result.

Now that the Left has made military service insane they’ll force the young into it, who knows when their next trendy war will show up.
US Doctrine has nothing to do with large masses of infantry trading punches and artillery. Infantry wouldn’t even hit the ground until SEAD had a couple days and we have, if not full air superiority, at least primary control.
We conduct joint maneuver, with support from air and sea. Armor moves with infantry, not just by themselves down a random road.
Ukraine’s strategy is nothing like how these US would fight it. Not just a lot more advanced equipment, but better trained everybody, better communication, better command and control, etc. Russia may be better than Saddam’s army, but not that much better.
Russian radars are used for more than just nuke launches, they track anything flying. Completely valid military target for Ukraine, and if Russia liked them that much, they shouldn’t have invaded in the first place. You hit another country, they’re gonna do their best to hit you back!

Carter did draft registration, and I registered at the time. Never was a draft, though.
