The US has agreed to send a second Patriot system to Ukraine, according to reports.

Ukraine has been given a handful of the missile systems from its allies, but says it needs more.

Patriots help stop Russian attacks, but Ukraine's allies are reluctant to reduce their own arsenals.

A second US Patriot system is headed for Ukraine following appeals for further air defenses, according to reports.

The MIM-104 Patriot missile system has been hailed as a major success in Ukraine, shooting down Russian missiles and aircraft as Ukraine fights back against Russia's invasion.

NATO didn’t stop with Bosnia, Lydia, Iraq, and right thru to Ukraine.

Old joke, circa 1989: There is only one country in the world surrounded by hostile communist neighbors: The Soviet Union.

I do not believe that NATO was involved in Iraq, Libya, nor Ukraine. NATO was involved in Afghanistan because the U.S. invoked Article V, claiming that sheltering Al-Qaida elements that attacked the U.S. on 9/11 made them responsible for its actions and a party to 9/11. NATO was correctly alarmed by Russian aggression against a former Soviet republic. The only possible reason that Russia could object to the eastward expansion of NATO is if it had hostile intentions towards its former satellites and republics.

Bosnia was a mistake, granted, but never a threat to Russia. It was Clintonesque dogooderism at its worst.

The Patriot system consists of a fire control radar, engagement controller, communications systems, and launchers.

A typical Patriot battalion consists for four batteries. Each battery is organic and self-sufficient, but they can operate in concert with other batteries, sharing target information. They can also take cues from AWACS or other sensors. They train as a battalion. Each battery has one radar, one engagement controller and four or more launchers, one launcher per firing platoon. Launchers are generally dispersed away from the radar, communications equipment, and engagement controller, though typically two launchers are assigned to protect each radar against anti-radiation missiles, but are still available to engage other targets.

Ukraine has four batteries. The U.S. Army has about 64 active batteries (much in demand around the world) and equipment for about another 64, left over from cold war levels. The Russians reported destroying two launchers, or about half a battery’s worth, while on road-march, and not deployed. Ukraine and the U.S. have not commented. The U.S. is believed to have about 1,106 launchers, half in storage.

Israel is retiring eight batteries, though they probably, like the U.S., may want to keep the hardware in reserve.

Patriot has a range of about 150 km. The Russian S-400 has a range of at least 300 km, but the only target you can hit at 300 km is a non-evading civilian airliner. The S-400 is outstanding in that role.

BTW, there are two types of missiles, PAC-3 and PAC-4. PAC-3 have longer range and a larger payload, and are intended primarily for military air-breathing targets. There are four PAC-3 rounds per launcher. PAC-4 has shorter range, higher velocity and is intended to provide terminal defense against ballistic missiles, but can be used against air breathers. PAC-3 can and have been successfully use to engage ballistic missiles as well, but PAC-4 are cheaper. There are 16 PAC-4 rounds per launcher.

Both launchers are reloadable, and not expendable.

I have asked repeatedly what does it mean to be a nazi these days, conversely we can look at the actions and behaviors of the ww2 nazis and compare them to countries and leaders today

Putin may not call himself a Nazi, but his actions very much are nazi like.

From what I'm reading, written by people who can read Russian and German, Putin's philosophical guidestars, Ilyin, Dugin, and Gumilev, all admired fascism. The one still alive, Dugin, still does.

“Sure. Putin thought he could roll over Kiev in three days, “

No Russian leader anywhere ever said that. That came from out analysis from our Pentagram “experts” who would have bombed Kiev, hit the presidential house, dropped every bridge and train, etc.

I know it escapes you, but it started as a limited military operation to back the nazis out of the Donbass, open the land bridge to Crimea, enforce no NATO, and denazify the Uke government.

Bullskitsky.

Putin NEVER would have started this war if he didn’t think it would be a cakewalk. He arrested and imprisoned his intelligence chief who told him he had agents in Kiev, and that the Russians would be welcomed as liberators.

The Russians sent in paratroopers to seize Kiev Airport. They were supposed to seize the airport and then Russian military transports would fly in and arrest Zelinsky and the broadcast facilities and give orders to the Ukrainian Army to surrender.

Only the paratroopers were slaughtered at the airport and the transports never came. Colonel McGregor’s “thermobaric” artillery never destroyed the Ukrainians.

Putin got [jobbed] by his arrogance and ignorance and he knows it.

Macgregor’s Ukraine War predictions don’t get posted here anymore, which is too bad, they were a lot of fun.

You're right there. It was Milley who said three days.

Putin himself said two weeks.

“... go back to their situations from before the war started. That’s going to be the outcome anyway, ..”
“ Putin cannot afford to agree to the status quo ante. If he does, he is effectively a dead man.”
“Even if Russia eventually ‘wins’ (which is unthinkable and will never happen) ..”
“Unable to make any more progress on the ground. ... This has to be stopped.”
“I’m on your side with Ukraine’s NAZIs, Chad.”
“To me, it’s always been obvious Russia wanted annexed land to the sea.”
“His [Vlad] back against the wall...”
“Putin thought he could roll over Kiev in three days, and begin the project of reconstructing the Soviet Union, ..”
“putin NEVER would have started this war if he didn’t think it would be a cakewalk.” (now THAT’s serious bullskitski)

So Putin was/is too weak to knock off Ukraine therefore he must be fought with every dead Ukrainian and US taxpayer dollar before he gets to his real objective the Atlantic.
