BREAKING: NY Judge Merchan Informs Lawyers of ‘My Cousin is a Juror, Trump is Getting Convicted’ Facebook Post Left on NY Court Page, Pre-Verdict.
In a new development in Trump’s Manhattan “hush money” case, Justice Merchan has communicated to the involved parties about an incident involving a comment left on the court system’s Facebook page. The comment, left on May 29, one day prior to Trump’s conviction, reads: “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted 🎉 Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!! ❤️”
The fact that the judge has written to the involved parties may indicate truth to the inside knowledge of the poster. The letter from Justice Merchan reads, in full:
Today, the Court became aware of a comment that was posted on the Unified Court System’s public Facebook page and which I now bring to your attention. In the comment, the user, “Michael Anderson,” states:
The comment was no longer visible when checked by The National Pulse.
Theoretically, if the comment is found to be true and a juror was discussing the verdict of the case with their cousin, Justice Merchan could rule a mistrial. Given his record of rulings against Trump and his daughter’s financial stake in the case, this is unlikely.

We might agree with you except for one thing - Merchan notified the defense voluntarily as a NYSC Judge..does that mean that Merchan might be forced to declare a mistrial? What will Trump’s lawyers do? Any lawyers on the forum have an opinion?

Even it was a “joke” or Anderson’s cousin was NOT on the jury, the timing indicates jury tampering.

What doesn’t make any sense is why the judge would put out a letter, which is only going to inflame the public even more.

Merchan is leaving it to the counsel. Both the prosecution and defense should call for an investigation. If the relationship exists, regardless of what the parties now say, it is jury tampering because Merchan didn’t sequester the jurors.

Nope, not surprised at all.
This kangaroo court has become a whole circus. It remains only for the poor excuse of a judge to declare the whole sham a mistrial.
Of course, that is not likelly to happen.
I once brought about a mistrial. A young man with strong opinions started talking to me about the trial. I then saw him gesturing to a young woman juror, obviously to meet for lunch as they went on a break.
It was her fiancee. I informed the lawyers and the juror was brought before the judge, lied that she never discussed the case.
They then brought the fiancee back and he admitted telling his fiancee the same things he said to me.
The juror also had lied on her questionnaire.
After the mistrial, the chief judge told the lawyers “Oh, the jurors lie all the time”.

In anywhere but in this bizarro universe, this would be grounds for immediate dismissal of the verdict and really substantial sanctions on Judge Juan Merchan, including dismissal from office and disbarment, and much closer examination of the means by which both judge selection and jury selection are carried out in this judicial district. The sanctions could conceivably be applied to DA BRAGG(ART) and MATTHEW COLANGELO, representing the DOJ directly at the trial, neither of whom it maybe said they are “fair-minded and unbiased”.
In reality to does not matter what happened, this was posted and gives all the look of impropriety. You can bet the juror probably did talk to family and made a statement of some sort and violated the orders. This is why this jury from day should have been sequestered. If the Judge does nothing then the Appellate Court will have to overturn unless they just don;t care about the optics of this.
