What doesn’t make any sense is why the judge would put out a letter, which is only going to inflame the public even more.

Merchan is leaving it to the counsel. Both the prosecution and defense should call for an investigation. If the relationship exists, regardless of what the parties now say, it is jury tampering because Merchan didn’t sequester the jurors.
Not sequestered because the good judge wanted the jurors to get some influence from rabidly Democrat neighbors and interlopers.
