I wouldn't b surprised by any of this. Merchan will jail Trump preventing him from going to the convention to give his acceptance speech This will send the country into chaos which is what Biden, Merrick Garland, and Chris Wray wants. What the GOP needs to do is if they can, move the convention up a week and nominate Trump on fourth of July.

I wouldn’t put it past him — but jailing the out-of-office candidate for President following an obvious “show trial” **WILL** precipitate a constitutional crisis.

My guess is the Supreme Court will take up a writ from President Trump’s legal team on an emergency basis. They will issue an immediate stay on the jail term and schedule a hearing of some sort at a later date. How late, who knows.

I also presume that the NY appeals courts will be of no help to President Trump period, and certainly not on an emergency basis.

I don’t see how that will help. Merchan is itching to jail Trump. It won’t matter much whether Trump is the official GOP presidential nominee or not.
