> What the GOP needs to do is if they can, move the convention up a week and nominate Trump on fourth of July. <
I don’t see how that will help. Merchan is itching to jail Trump. It won’t matter much whether Trump is the official GOP presidential nominee or not.
As others have noted, the Supreme Court is the best (and perhaps only) hope.
Perhaps the only way it will matter to Merchan, who is intent of completing his role in the show trial, is if his master directs him to lighten up; that could happen if there is concern the hand is close to being overplayed.
Declaring Trump as the R presidential candidate (once again), however, puts a sharper edge on the issue.
This case had approximately 30 reversible errors and appears headed to jailtime for the candidate of one of the two major parties during a presidential campaign and election.
Such a large number or errors by both prosecutor and judge seems clearly beyond incompetence and supports a finding of election interference.
As others have noted, the Supreme Court is the best (and perhaps only) hope.
Correct, and Bush V Gore blazes the path. Sure it was over the ballots but it was a state getting in the way of a federal election.
now, we also have all the courts running the other way in 2020 so it’s by far a slam dunk but it has a 100% chance of failure if it’s not tried.
Question: If Trump is elected president while incarcerated, can he immediately pardon himself?
The Supreme Court of the U.S. is NOT THE ONLY HOPE. The American people are sovereign and ALL of these criminal courts can and should be ignored. The people THEMSELVES can stop this abuse of law and fundamental rights. The day of reckoning is coming and cannot be stopped by a tiny group of people in black robes. The Declaration of Independence settled that a LOOOOONG time ago.
