Complex and critically important systems, ranging from the financial sector to elections, need to be able to have outcomes validated through audits. Holding accurate elections is a core principle under our Constitution and the law, as is auditability, though you might not have thought about it.
The unique right of all Americans is to collectively exercise sovereignty over our government. The founders believed this was a divine right granted by our Creator. Since 1803, after the peculiar case of political skullduggery in Marbury v. Madison, it has been established law that a right without a remedy is not a right. Thus, the auditability of our elections is not mere detail, it is the “check and balance” ensuring that accuracy and compliance prevented any corrupted intent from affecting our elections.
The computing systems managing our elections should offer a great advantage in this area. Computers can help administrators track the myriad data sources in a federal election, along with any and all inputs or changes made along the way. An instant record can be generated of who made the edits, and why. This allows control over the entire voting system; we can monitor and identify the source of any breach or misdeed, in theory.
But facts often deviate from theory. Effective monitoring and administration require great systems, many experts, and significant effort. Did we have these in 2020 or 2022? How can we tell, without transparency?

Every other system in our nation has audit procedures in place; except for election results. With current technology and cross-referencing of voter information, audits should be a simple mechanism to put in place.
Because Then The Democrats Couldn't Cheat.
Because that would be racist, silly
Was the 2016 election audited?
Neither political party wants transparent elections. I don’t think the voters matter in our current political system.
The mere fact that these people fight tooth and claw against audits and transparency proves that they are cheating.
That’s actually a good question.
Why aren’t there some ISO or AICPA standards around election systems. Seems to me like they’re leaving election systems to be determined by politicians so that they can be properly fixed.
Nor can Rinos. Politicians do not want audits even through We The People want them. Granted DemocRATS are notorious cheaters, we have our fair share. Why you ask? Because there is money to be made in policy making above and beyond their salary. That is why there is at least one shell company in a politicians close family. Foreign aid is one of the main sources of this shenanigan to fleece the people and treasury. Insider trading is another means because they are making policy that effects stock prices. There is also the under table shuffle so some person or company can influence legislation. Until that is resolved we are screwed.
Depends on your definition of “audit”?
Get rid of the machines. Then vote by marking an X by hand on a piece of paper choosing the candidate that you’re voting for. The votes are then counted by scrutineers from each political party... It’s worked in commonwealth countries for several hundreds of years.
Making voting a chore using manual and electronic machines counting the votes for you is just an invitation for corruption. And make your voting day for Presidents and Governors separate from the voting day for dog catchers and county sheriffs. Packing the ballot with dozens of names and offices is confusing and leads to mistakes.
It’s not rocket science and voting has been pretty straight forward and easy for most societies since the Greeks. For some reason, America has become a cesspool of stupidity when it comes to electing your leaders.
Can’t audit the jungle.
Specially protected species,,,
American voters won’t unite and demand it so evil wins.
From 2006...
Update: Is ‘vote flipping’ an e-voting problem or user error?
Pity we didn't listen.
Not just America.
Look at the changes to election law and in election equipment in countries all over the globe.
Much of it since 2016.
Interesting timing, eh?
A majority of countries in this world still use hand marked ballots... Especially commonwealth countries like Canada, the UK, India, Australia, etc... Using hand marked ballots doesn’t eliminate corruption completely, but using a machine to do your counting makes corruption a whole lot easier.
An audit would expose the Democrat Brand and Machine.
>Was the 2016 election audited?<
IIRC Jill Stein started down that path but the irregularities that were favoring the Hildabeast started to become overly apparent so the process was stopped.
EC
Check your info.
There have been some interesting changes the last few years.
And even the countries still bragging about continuing to use paper ballots now use electronic tabulators to count them.
The contracts for the machines are public record.
The changes to election law are just as important and pernicious.
The UK is a great case in point there.
the cancer runs deep
