We are saying two different things.
I’m not saying that he’ll allow one juror to say Trump didn’t commit a crime and still convict him.
I’m saying the Jury instructions violate the Sixth Amendment per the SCOTUS in that one can find him guilty of Crime X and another can find him Gulity of Crime Y and that’s good enough for a Conviction. SCOTUS ruling says the exact opposite.
Merchan knows this, but they found no way to avoid reversal by SCOTUS later.
They are playing their best hand, and they calculated enough voters will abandon Trump or not show up to Vote.
The only way this could have been done is tight coordination. How did the Prosecutor know the Judge would violate the Sixth Amendment and hide the second charge? And not let Trump call witnesses to defend himself for that secret charge?
Today it's easy to get a book published. All you have to do is say how much you hate Trump in it.
No question merchan the tyrant should be tried for treason, found guilty, then hanged like the cur traitor he is.
Merchan also directed the Jurors to specific evidence to consider. Evidence that the Prosecution claims tells the story.

The Judge should have told them to consider all evidence, testimony, and records, but again, he goes for the throat.
IMHO if they were surveilled, you would find inappropriate contacts between the judge and prosecutors, or via their intermediaries.

My suspicion is that there is no form of criminal activity and debauchery that they are not involved in, or running outright. Most American politicians are sociopaths, those that aren’t sociopaths are psychopaths.

That is simply not what Judge Merchan said or did. Nobody is finding Trump guilty of crime X or Y. Any verdict can only find him guilty or not guilty of crime X. There is only one crime charged and only one that need have been committed. The jury cannot find Trump guilty of a predicate crime, and a predicate crime need not have been committed. The jury must find Trump guilty of the only crime charged which includes that the falsification of a business record have been committed with the intent to cover up a predicate crime. Trump must have had the state of mind, at the time of business record falsification, to cover up a predicate crime. That could have been a crime which was never committed. That the predicate crime was not committed would not change whatever intent was had at the time of falsification.
In the Trump case, it was very difficult to know what, in particular, he was defending against. The particular nature of the alleged offense seems to have been kept hidden until revealed in the instructions to the jury, after the defense closing argument. That is relatively insane.
There are probably a few hundred real issues with this case, but a non-unanimous verdict is just not one of them.
I agree. I’m of a mind that the prosecution knew the judge would rule that any of three predicate crimes would fulfill the predicate crime requirement, and they need not have actually been committed. Perhaps it was just particularly good fortune, or clairvoyance, or unlawful ex parte communication.
Trump is guilty because he falsified business records, and that is a felony because he intended to falsify business records? What?

I agree, but I wouldn’t put it past this rabid TDS judge. It is effectively directing the jury to convict. Whatever....if they put him (or try to) in Jail, they’re gonna get a J6 they won’t believe.

Yep. What I would do if I were on that jury is say “I don’t think he’s guilty because.....xyz reasons” and no matter what, just keep arguing. Don’t budge an inch but just keep arguing rather than folding your arms and refusing to talk.
That way a corrupt hack judge like Merchan can’t get rid of you.

Last i saw the alternates have NOT been released, but they have been kept separate from the deliberating jury. I don’t know what the mechanics of a swap would look like.
The alternatives sit in the court listening to all the testimony/evidence too

I doubt there’s any precedence for anything about this case. It’s unbelievable what’s going on here, it’s shockingly just like a North Korean show trial. I was reading the indictment last night and I couldn’t believe the garbage I was reading. They basically accuse him of stealing the 2016 election because he “illegally” paid Stormy Daniels hush money. So in other words something that is legal they decided to make “illegal” just so they could charge him.
