PHOTOS: Pennsylvania Stands Up ‘Scranton Joe’: Biden’s Philadelphia Event Empty
Breitbart ^ | 29 May 2024 | Paul Bois

Few people were reportedly in attendance at a Joe Biden rally in Philadelphia on Wednesday, despite Pennsylvania being an important swing state for him to win.

Photos showing vast spaces of emptiness at the Philadelphia rally began to circulate on Wednesday from New York Post reporter Steven Nelson.

“Photos from President Biden’s Philadelphia rally: the school’s gym is only about half full of supporters A good amount of space is empty and spacious press workspace takes up the rest,” Nelson noted on X.

Pennsylvania represents one of the many swing states Biden would have to win to defeat former President Trump in November. As the Hill recently noted, Pennsylvania has slowly shifted from being a reliable stronghold for the incumbent to a state in play.

A New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer poll out earlier this month showed Biden’s support among young voters in the state has slipped since 2020 from 62 percent to 47 percent. And his backing from Black and Hispanic voters has also waned from 71 percent to 57 percent.

The Times/Siena/Inquirer survey also showed Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) — who is running for reelection against Republican Dave McCormick — outrunning Biden by as many as 10 points.

Former Rep. Jason Altmire (D-PA) admitted to being surprised by the polls.

“I’m surprised that things aren’t going so well,” Altmire told the Hill. “If there’s any place where he should be doing well or better than President Trump, it’s Pennsylvania because of the personal connection, because of the work he’s been putting in for decades, and because the state is trending blue.”

“I think he’s doing everything he can do. They’ve pulled out all the stops,” he added.

The sparse line of people going through security this morning appeared to be POCs from buses brought in from their government bureau desks. That’s the image I had of them anyway — in which case, no surprise.

Maybe people didn’t show up because it’s in a “bad” neighborhood?

Remind me of 2020, every campaign rally for Biden was this empty but in the end he “won”. The 2020 fix, I believe, is still in place, probably got “strengthened”

"Fortified" is Mark Zuckerman's preferred adjective.

81 million voters; over 90& are invisible to the naked eye, but they're there.

Like cosmological "dark matter".

I’d rather step in a pile of dogs**t up to my knees than walk into a Biden event.

I've attended four DJT events...all in New Hampshire. One was in summer 2016,two were while he was POTUS, and the last was after he left office.

All four of them were attended by far more people than the venue could hold. At each one I was required to stand for hours with many hundreds...if not thousands...of others before I could get in.

And yet, he could not win New Hampshire. That shows how important packing rallies is.

Maybe all the people who thought about attending the event went to the grocery store earlier and said “Naw, not me, I can’t afford it”. I wonder if there was an admission fee.

An administration that already knows the November election numbers is not going to concern itself with low turnout to campaign events.
